About this property

Rural location on the edge of a small Derbyshire village of Holymoorside

The Cottage is all on one level with ample private parking. The lounge has a feature stone fireplace with a wood burning stove. The kitchen is fully fitted and well equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, fridge and microwave. Laundries facilities are situated next to the cottage in the outhouse; there is a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer, you are also able to store bicycles in here and it is lockable.
Outside there is a secure garden area, including a patio seating area for four next to the brook. The bird feeders outside the cottage attract a good variety of local birds and are a joy to watch. Pets are welcome by arrangement with a small charge.

We are 2 miles from a large supermarket and there is a regular village bus service into Chesterfield.

Holymoorside Village is ¾ mile from the cottage. There are two pubs, the Bulls Head serves restaurant and bar meals and the Lamb Inn has a good selection of real ales. There are many footpaths available locally offering beautiful walks both short and long. Holymoorside is situated on the edge of the Peak District and is in easy reach of both Chatsworth and Haddon Estates. The busy market towns of Chesterfield and Bakewell are a short drive away, both offer good shopping facilities.

Beautiful location for a Cosy Cottage.
When searching for a property near to Bakewell my priority was a property all on one level due to disabilities as well as taking dogs. This was perfect. A stunning rural location close to amenities as well as travelling distance to surrounding areas, Bakewell, Castleton etc. The cottage was beautifully warm and cosy with comfortable beds, 1 double and 2 bunk beds and well equiped kitchen etc. The location was stunning, mill stream running in front of the cottage, a pond with a meadow to watch the wildlife. Beautiful Flora and Fauna and native trees. The downside was no WIFI but a signal of 4g could be found if your phone was in the window or outside. (This can be common in rural areas and cottages with stone walls) Will definitely stay again in the future.

So peaceful
We stayed for a week in this incredibly beautiful location. The cottage is on the edge of Holymoorside and we used the local bus service as we didn’t have a car. The cottage has everything you need and is surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Charming country cottage
Quaint cottage nestled under the boughs of magnificent sycamore and oak trees, adjacent to a stream and pond. Enjoy peace and quiet and the abundant bird and wildlife. Well equipped and comfortable, it is a wonderful place to stay for exploring the surrounding Derbyshire countryside.

I have lived in the village all my life, my family have lived in the village for over 200 years. Millclose Farm is run as a small holding, we have two small flocks of pedigree sheep, Texels and Norfolk Horns, a small herd of commercial cows and two Dales ponies. Also there is always a variety of poultry from chickens and ducks to turkeys and geese.

Why they chose this property

Millclose Cottage is a great place to relax and unwind. Set in its own garden with a small stream running along the edge of the garden. The garden attracts a great variety of bird life, in 2017 we put up a feed station outside the cottage and this attracts many birds.
Holymoorside is a great base for exploring the Peak District, Situated on the east side of the Peak District National Park, Millclose Cottage offers easy access into the peaks, with Bakewell, Castleton, Hope Valley and surrounding area are all within easy reach, whether you are just wanting a gentle walk or a more strenuous hike. Millclose Cottage is surrounded by a network of footpaths, from the cottage you can easily walk to Old Brampton, Ashover, Chatsworth Estate and Chesterfield.

What makes this property unique

Millclose Cottage is situated in a very quiet and peaceful location, relax and unwind in this rural location. Sit outside on the patio, next to the stream and watch the birds feeding within a few meters.
