We've stayed here so many times that I've run out of happy, positive things to say about the cabin, the owner, the barn, etc. Let me think.....it's so comfortable, so well equipped, such good communication, that we just keep returning. I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks so much, Brenda.
We had a wonderful time this weekend - the screen porches were so wonderful, and proximity to Big South Fork was perfect. The house was clean, well-stocked with the essentials, and a great getaway.
We had a wonderful time. The property was perfect. So clean and cozy. It was stocked with everything you'd need. This was one of the best rentals we've ever had. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!
We spent a wonderful long weekend here over New Years. The place was perfect for the 3 couples! The kitchen was well stocked, and the amenities were all first rate. We will be back!!
We had three representatives from three generations of our family at the cabin for a nearby wedding. The accommodations were perfect for our needs. We only wish we had longer to stay!
The cabin was comfortable and equipped with everything we could ask for. The mountain forest setting was amazing. We all slept great and had a fantastic week. We can’t wait to return!
Friends of 50 years met here to go to out high school reunion of 50 year. Just the right size with the right amenities. We loved having the porches and would have enjoyed the outdoor fireplace, but ran out of time.
The house was very clean and welcoming. Everything was exactly as advertised. There were plenty of blankets to keep us warm and a hot tub to relax. We enjoyed the river a short distance away. We drove to Royal Blue for a day of off-roading and had a ball. Wonderful stay. We also saw a lot of deer and a black bear. Loved it! Would recommend visiting and I would to
I think this is our 4th or 5th time staying at GRITS. That should be all I need to say. The cabin is comfortable, well equipped, very clean, ...pretty much everything we like. Communication with the owner is excellent. The barn and turnout are safe and so convenient. We'll be back.
We've stayed at GRITS several times, and enjoy it tremendously. Cabin is lovely. Barn is great. Paddock is terrific for our horses. Brenda is very responsive to messages and questions. I say this every time, but "We'll be back."
This property is a gem! It is everything the listing says it is. It is clean, spacious and quiet. The back porch has a screened in hot tub that overlooks a peaceful hollow. The furnishings are nice, with plenty of space to spread out in the house. This property is very close to a state park which has many trails to hike. There are waterfalls and arches to find. We will be back. We loved it here!
We had a wonderful time here! It's surrounded by nature on all sides and bugs weren't a huge issue, not much standing water nearby. A few things to go over, next time we come here I'll try to put in a request for dry firewood as the wood available was damp and would not light in the outdoor fireplace. Also, watch out for bobcats! We heard one hissing when we were taking the dogs out the first night but we were able to scare it away. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we appreciate being able to come here even though we requested booking on such short notice.

Well-appointed, comfortable cabin in Oneida
We enjoyed our annual cabin trip at GRITS this year. We loved the big decks and porches, the outdoor fireplace, and the lowered hot tub on the screened back porch! Plenty of parking and secluded from other cabins in the area so we could be outside without worrying about bothering any neighbors. Close to amazing hiking in Big South Fork. 3 bedrooms, plus two twins in the loft. Bunkhouse in the stable adds two twins, but no bathroom. A little tight for 12 adults if you have more than 3 couples. The most welcoming experience I've had yet from a cabin, including a nice card and bottle of wine. Our stay deserved nothing less than 5 stars, I'd recommend GRITS to friends.
It fit our party, plenty of towels ,blankets , cleaning supply’s. Beautiful cabin, hot water was awsome after all of our showers. Hot tubs was wonderful after we got back from our 6 hrs of riding each day. A lot of dishes, I could go on and on. So relaxing there. Yes I would come back. Only bad thing would be if u have horses. There is 3 paddocks and 20 steps up a hill packed hay was hard for us being in our 60s. Paddocks we’re old up the hill but behind the barn we’re great and big enough for a lot of horses there , really could make that 2 paddocks if wanted too. Little tight for 3 trailers but hey we been in worst spots. Other than that. It was amazing! Trails were good. Woods and river so nice. But cabin is fully stocked and clean. Thz for having us.
The "Cabin" is cozy from top to bottom. A real experience for sure. The rooms all are done with care and conscious thought for the needs of the patrons. The kitchen is fully stuffed with food and equipment to use. The decks and porches and swings and seating all around were so many it would take several weeks to enjoy them all to the fullest. The hot tub is large and CLEAN! and felt so good after a day of hard horse back riding. The stalls were large and started out with clean pine chips. (I brought more chips to keep up on the stalls) Its fun to sit out on the deck and talk to the horses in the stalls. They all stood with their heads out watching us. The trails are right out the gate of the property. The heads up I would like to give is to make sure your horses are conditioned well before taking them out on the trails. I thought that my geldings were in pretty good shape. I ride in the mountains at least 2x weekly. But when I got there and went out on a 15 mile loop with strenuous spots along the way, the youngest of the geldings had some Exertional Rybomyalisis. it was scary and from the trail it looked like a stroke, seizure or heart attack. The combination of dampness and heat and exertion. Next time we will back track with a timer so that we don't over do it. You loose track because of the beauty.

Fantastic Cabin and Location!!!
My friends and I stayed here for a guys weekend getaway. There were 8 of us that stayed in this cabin for 2 nights to do some 4-Wheeler riding down at Brimstone ATV Park. This house could not have been any better suited for my group of guys. The location made it perfect for a group of guys that like to get a little loud at night while out by the grill and outdoor fireplace. That was one of the requirements when I was looking for a cabin to rent. I did not want anyone very close because I know how some of my friends get (a little to load for close neighbors). This cabin was better than I expected it to be. None of my friends could stop talking about how they would love to live there forever. The driveway was large enough to accommodate our large trucks and trailers that we had all of the 4-Wheeler's on. The water hose by the stables made it easy to clean up a little when we got back from the trails. This was the first time I had ever used VRBO but I had heard good things from people that had used it in the past. I could not have been more pleased with my experience in booking this cabin and the Owner staying in contact with me. Brenda is very responsive to any question you have and she even help us located a reputable ATV Park to ride in. Several of my friends and I travel for business all of the world. So I had my concerns when I was booking this house. I’ve stayed in some very shady places around the world. I did not what this to be one of them. I can tell you now I would not hesitate to stay here. It was very clean and the beds are very comfortable. If I can every make it back to this area, I will definitely be staying here again.

My husband and I (married 35 years) and our two daughters, have always enjoyed the outdoors. We dreamed of owning a cabin where we could enjoy our family and our horses. We are both native Tennesseans and put down roots in Middle TN to raise our kids. My passion is equine rescue, and I spend most of my spare time trying to make a difference and educate people on animal welfare. We currently have several equine rescues, as well as several dogs n cats!
Why they chose this property
Our familly spent the last several years going to different destinations to hit the trails. In 2010 we decided to stay in the GRITS cabin and explore the Big South area. We found ourselves going back to this area, and when the cabin went up for sale, we made the decision we had to have this piece of paradise!
What makes this property unique
GRITS (Girls Raised in the South), is such a great location to enjoy the BSF. Ride from the barn right onto the trailhead and miles of trails. We love sitting in the hot tub and building a fire when the season turns cool. Sitting on the screened in porch and listening to the bullfrogs and the crickets makes the work week a memory.
