The Dammuso "U Locu" is an original and ancient peasant house, located in the Bugeber district. Immersed in the silence and surrounded by the green of the cultivated fields, it enjoys a splendid view of the
Venus mirror and the sea.
Built about two hundred years ago, it comprises about one third of the surface of a room that acts as a lounge. This is rectangular in shape with a domed roof and walls up to three meters thick. For this feature, keeping the doors completely closed, there is always a sort of "natural air conditioning" inside. Connected to the hall, the two alcoves:
one double and one smaller (with wooden door and satin glass) with a comfortable double sofa bed. From the smaller alcove there is access to a long secondary terrace surrounded by a pretty stone bench called "ducchena" and with a tiny garden of succulents. Also from the hall on a staggered floor, you access the original kitchen of the time characterized by built-in wardrobes and niches for storing food and a small window above the door that gives on the outside by letting in air and light without the need to open the door below. In front of the dammuso a table, chairs and a stone bench lined with the characteristic "domed roofs" lead to the terrace with a view overlooking the
splendid "Mirror of Venus" leaving room, behind this, to the sea ... which gradually gets lost in the sky ...
The Dammuso "U Locu" offers accommodation for up to 4 people (another 2 people could stay in the nearby and adjacent Dammuso "U Mulino" always present on this portal).
You will stay in typical rural houses, recognizable by their white domed roofs, built in 'dry' lava stone with walls up to three meters thick and having the famous property of 'natural air conditioning'. Clean, well-kept and constantly renewed environments.
Spend unforgettable moments in this Dammuso centenary, perhaps complemented by a sip of the superb local Passito. Savor it overlooking the Mirror of Venus. You will feel, surrounded by a magical silence and an unreal environment, your pulsing and warm embrace capable of instantly erasing all types of stress.
The nearby and suggestive Lake of Venus occupies spectacularly the crater of a volcano. The name 'Mirror of Venus' derives from an ancient legend which tells that the Goddess Venus went here to mirror herself vainly before meeting with the God Bacchus. The lake is made up of particular saline mineral waters, which flow from some thermal springs that reach temperatures of up to 50 °, this water is rich in hydrated silica and sodium carbonate. The sandy shore is made up of mud known for its therapeutic and cosmetic properties. Returning home on a clear full moon summer night, the reflection of the latter will remain forever etched in your memory ...
