Located at the gateway to Idaho Sawtooth Wilderness Area, This charming vintage Swedish Log Cabin in the mountains is located seven miles from downtown Hailey Idaho and less than 20 miles from the Sun Valley Resort.

If you are dreaming of experiencing the quiet solitude of mountain living with fantastic views, sunrises and sunsets; yet also desiring the luxury of being near five star restaurants, a world class ski resort, golfing and incredible mountain biking and hiking in the summer or snowmobile and cross country ski trails in the winter this unique Swedish Log Cabin for you!

The large open front yard offers privacy, a year round spring fed creek, space to stretch out and amazing nightly star gazing. Its rustic style is cozy and comfortable. Your electronic devices may take a break in this home too; however, not to worry, you can stay plugged in to your other world with the complimentary internet access.

The Swedish Log Cabin is a perfect gathering place for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday!!

If you enjoy relaxing with a fly fishing rod in your hand you will
appreciate the short seven mile drive to three multiple fishing spots along the Big Wood River. And then head out to World Famous Silver Creek.

Out the back door you will be able to access spectacular skiing, hiking and biking trails.

In the spring and summer numerous bands of sheep pass through on their way to the High Country.

Motion detector security camera is located on top of tool shed and views the entrance gate and barn.

Very peaceful place

We loved our stay at the cabin. The setting is so peaceful and relaxing. The owner and the caretakers were extremely helpful, considerate, and very pleasant to work with. We can't wait to come back.

Amazing property!

We couldn’t have been happier with our stay. This beautiful cabin is on an amazing piece of property, its own creek, and is dog friendly. A short drive to Sun Valley, but with the privacy and coziness of your own log cabin. We literally stepped outside our front door and went cross country skiing. Couldn’t have been better! We can’t wait to go back!

Amazing

I have never felt compelled to leave a review of anything until now. Pictures do not do this place justice! We have stayed in rental properties all over the country and this was by far our favorite. Check in was a breeze, the cabin was clean with everything you could possibly need during your stay and the location was absolutely perfect! Mary (owner) and Susie stayed in constant communication during our stay and were available to answer any questions. The purpose of our trip to Hailey was to ski at Sun Valley, but we could have easily spent our days hiking around and staying in at the cabin. The Red Elephant Ranch is a special place and we hope to return in the future.

Perfect for Families

We were 6 adults and 4 kids (ages 13, 10, 9 and 7) who stayed over President’s Day weekend. The house was perfect for our ski trip. It is a quick 15 minute drive to either Park City Mountain or Deer Valley, very clean, and well represented in the photographs. The beds in the two king rooms and one queen were very comfortable tempur-pedic type beds. The kids were delighted with their suite upstairs, shuffleboard and foosball downstairs and the hot tub (note that the only way to access the hot tub is through the master bedroom). Our only recommendations - larger pots and pans and cookware for the kitchen given that the house accommodates 10+ and Kleenex tissues (lots of runny noses with the cold!) We would not hesitate to stay in this house again!

What a wonderful time we had at the Swedish Cabin. It is a perfect, cozy, well-appointed home. Truly a reset for our family after a long, hard year. Communication with the owner was easy and seamless. I would vacation here again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful & Relaxing

We had a wonderful, relaxing time at the lovely cabin. Just what you would expect - a very well appointed log cabin in the country. Quiet, lovely inside and out we were extremely comfortable during our stay. We will definitely stay again! We actually stayed in one day and just enjoyed the Red Elephant Ranch instead of going to a planned event in town! Great hosts too!

Great vacation

Oh My Goodness

What a wonderful place this is. My husband and I were celebrating his 62nd birthday during the pandemic. Where to go? How to mark it? I stumbled across Mary's place on VRBO, and we feel so lucky to have found it. It is private, large, has a great kitchen, and a very comfortable king sized bed. Dogs are welcome. There is a large fenced garden area to wander about in, and hikes, short and long, right outside the door, and yet it's not far from Hailey and Ketchum. Mary went more than an extra mile to secure our reservation when we ran into some problems with VRBO, and an onsite friend of hers greeted us and showed us the place when we arrived. We are so grateful to have had this weekend that felt safe and exotic at the same time.

Perfect place to relax

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin sits in a beautiful setting to relax. In the night, we sat in the backyard for stargazing .... we saw Saturn, Jupiter, and the Milky Way!!! Our dog also enjoyed the place very much... running around the fenced-in backyard, and taking a long walk without the leash. We also enjoyed the cabin with lots of memorabilia letting us learn the cabin’s history. Thank you for allowing to stay such a wonderful place.

Best Christmas Ever!!!

This was the most incredible place to stay. Our family had one of our most magical Christmas ever. This place was beautiful and peaceful. It was so much fun to ski from the cabin and to come back and sit in front the fire. The hosts were very helpful and welcoming. I hope to stay here again soon. Our entire family thanks them for making our experience so wonderful.

Fabulous place to enjoy countryside

This is a fabulous home, and very warm, comfortable, lots of amenities, clean. The surrounding hills are quiet and full of wonderful sage brush. We skied right outside the door, walked the dogs and explored the beautiful hillsides. Highly recommended.

Best Summer Ever

Red Elephant Ranch is a magical place. From the moment we arrived we and our two labs never wanted to leave. Mary was wonderful to chat with throughout our stay, checking on our well being and any needs. The Ranch is a quiet retreat you never need to leave or just 20 minutes away you can see a movie, fly fish, mountain bike and dine at a variety of superb restaurants in Hailey. Venture further to Ketchum for concerts in the park, Bald Mt and more restaurants. Even further there's Galena Lodge, Redfish Lake sunset cruises, white water rafting in Stanley and more fly fishing. Don't miss out on such an extraordinary experience.

Serenity

My husband and I , and our two dogs, had the most peaceful, nature oriented stay at Red Elephant Ranch last week in the middle of October. The owner, Mary, is so delightful and caring, and she loves dogs! Mary had the cabin all ready for us with all the personal touches of home. There was a basket of cookies , a bottle of wine ; and the wood burning stove greeted us with a cozy warmth as we stepped in to the Swedish cabin. If you want to be away from everything with every window view full of beautiful mountains, golden wheat pastures, a light dappled , bubbling creek, and herds of sheep and cows roaming back and forth; then this is the place for you. You can unplug with ease and forget about your troubles at The Red Elephant Ranch. We highly recommend staying at this little slice of heaven! Thank you Mary! xoxo

One of a kind Idaho rental that must be seen

Our family has stayed at many summer rental properties over the years. The Red Elephant Ranch is hands down our favorite location. The true Idaho experience that you have when staying in this rustic cabin is a one of a kind experience. The owner Mary is very accommodating. We have stayed at this property for the last three summers, the kids loved the brook that runs through the property and all the wildlife that they had seen during our stay. If you want to get away from it all yet be close to town, this is the place to stay.

Perfect cabin and location to relax.

The cabin and the whole experience was absolutely great. We found ourselves opting to stay in at the cabin, relaxing, playing cards and boardgames, building a fire, instead of venturing out as much as we thought we would. The property was great as well. It was peaceful and we enjoyed walking around, taking it all in. Mary, the owner, and Eric, the caretaker , were absolutely great. The communication from booking to the end of the stay was perfect. We were well informed and everything was as expected. We can't wait to visit again! Thanks again Mary for everything!

Why they chose this property

Property passed down from mother and father. Originally a homesteaded ranch, the cabin was built in the Scandinavian style by my father, brother, and husband in 1974. Over the years the ranch has been used for hay farming, barley production, horses, and cattle. Elk Creek directly out the front door of the cabin runs year round. Wildlife abounds.
