About Sarah Fain
My mom bought this cabin from the original owner, who was a neighbor and friend, in the '90's. She lovingly refurbished and decorated it. I've spent many happy summers there. I'm a writer, and it's the perfect spot for quiet reflection and work-- while still being an ideal launching pad for a busy day exploring the lake and the woods.
Sarah Fain purchased this Cottage in 1990
What makes this Cottage unique
The bunkhouse makes this cabin even more special. It was built by the original owner of the cabin, with the help of several of the original owners on the road-- including my great-uncle. It's right on the water, and my mom spent many hours making it a unique, comfortable getaway.

Cabin was cozy.. bunkhouse fun for grandsons.. no WiFi was irritating.. had to use up all my phone data.. cost extra $45.. caretakers were very nice...
Cozy, cute, clean, comfortable cabin on beautiful Lake Vermilion ‘
We have stayed here the last 2 years and both vacations have been wonderful experiences. I do think a clock in living/dining area would be nice addition. I gave 4 stars only because we had no internet service. Caretaker phoned company and tried for over an hour but could not get a connection. He made appt. for tech support to come out but they never called or showed up. Kind of a wasted day. Overall, we would vacation here again.
Amazing property, cabin and bunkhouse are perfect for a small group
My cousin and I brought our 10 yr old sons to experience Vermilion, and the property, cabin and bunkhouse were perfect. Great view of the bay through the tall pines, dock was good for two 17’ foot boats, and the the boys spent countless hours jumping off the dock. Don’t hesitate to spend time on the lake here.
Adorable and a perfect spot for a family of 5
We stayed here with our 3 kids over the 4th of July this year, and it was perfect. Its everything a cabin getaway should be. Our 3 kids (ages 8, 9, &11) stayed in the bunkhouse, which gave us adults our own space. The wifi worked just fine as well as the satellite tv. The only thing we found a little confusing was the recycling. They still want you to actually separate everything out, but there was only one container in the cabin for this. There could've been more garbage bags and paper towels on hand, but I got the feeling if we would've asked the caretakers they would've supplied us with more. The caretakers were lovely people who did check in on us, but also left us alone. We will definitely be looking to book this place again. Thanks again for letting us stay, we loved it!
