About Kay Paterson
My husband and I live on a 12 acre lifestyle block on the outskirts of Geraldine. We have raised and home-educated our 4 children here, who are now turning into beautiful young adults and flying away.. We love our life in this slow-paced paradise and have enjoyed sharing it with travellers and locals, who are needing to escape the trappings of modern life for a breather.
Kay Paterson purchased this Guest House in 2017
Why Kay Paterson chose Woodbury
So many guests have enjoyed the unique experience of staying at Fiery Peak Cottage. We're new to list with Homeaway so here's a sample of what is being said in our reviews on other accommodation platforms: "This was probably our favourite night in New Zealand! Kay is great, so accommodating and even had homemade breakfast ready for us. The property was extremely comfortable and warm and the stars at night were amazing and filled the sky. Thanks so much Kay!" John from Australia: July 2018 After three weeks of travelling this was by far the best Airbnb we had been to. The eggs and homemade bread in the morning was amazing! Definitely recommend staying here no matter where you are travelling to. Earnan from USA: January 2018 We stayed for a night during our break journey from Christchurch to Queenstown. When we were checking out, we regretted having not stayed a day or two more. Sayantan from England: Dec 2017 It’s an amazing place to stay. Would love to have been there for several days. Sky at night is amazing and the scenery relaxing during the day. It’s fab. There is solar lighting if you’re concerned. The bathroom facilities are fine, but if you’re not used to composting toilets you might get a fright. However it’s not what you think as it’s very clean and makes sense - Give yourself a treat or and adventure. For me it was both. Digby from NZ: March 2018 Kay's place is one of the best places I have stayed at. It was dark when we arrived, and we were pleasantly surprised by the cute lights on the inside and the outside. In addition, the cottage was heated by the fireplace which was very relaxing when we settled in. The cottage is very lovely, and Kay has added many personal touches, such as the lights, flowers and available breakfast. It was also a very nice feeling to stay on a farm and listen to all the sounds in the morning, such as birds, sheep and cows. Would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. Mona from Australia: April 2

Off the grid- in the BEST way!
Different houses have their own vision of healthy, homey and off the grid. But this is for real!! No electricity (but plenty of battery powered light) and a simple feeling of home. The entrance was still under construction for our stay, But don’t let that detour you! If anything it made the place more charming! Kay and her husband were great hosts and had awesome stories to share. Such an excellent rejuvenating stay.
Simplicity and Stillness
This is the place for you if you want to detox from your world of 'busy'. With its comfortable and cosy accommodation, you can be creatively inspired or just relax into the stillness of the setting. No stars for us the night we stayed due to the rain but the fire worked its magic anyway. Kay has thought of everything to make your stay something special. Jackie and Louise from Cranio onTour will be stopping here again on their next road trip!
