About this property

Visit Yellowstone with a Private Guide - Come Home to an Amazing River View

This beautiful 1920s cabin situated on the Yellowstone River has been recently restored into the ultimate getaway. We continued our renovations with fresh paint both inside and out, updated decor including a tree shaped 'take one-leave one' lending library and additional kitchen gadgets.

Our cabin contains all of the comforts of home with 2 bedrooms, 1 full bath, a well stocked full kitchen, laundry services, two living spaces (one with a TV, the other well stocked with games, a piano and books) and a porch.

To take full advantage of the beautiful scenery there are picture windows in the kitchen and a panoramic view from the beautiful, hand crafted deck. The cabin can sleep 4-6 people. Please no pets.

Can’t beat the views!
Quimby Cabin had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and cozy. Beautiful deck overlooking Yellowstone River, good size living area and kitchen with two bedrooms. Very clean and well stocked for kitchen ease. Gardiner is a quaint little town and is right near the northern entrance into Yellowstone, so very convenient as well. Owners were easy to contact if needed.

Great location for Yellowstone North Entrance
Fantastic location for North Gate of Yellowstone. Literally, just a couple of blocks away. Tremendous about of Elk walking around town and even on the front porch of the property. Heard them talking one night and looked out the window and there was a large female just standing there. Next day, return from Yellowstone and there was a mom and calf nursing on the front porch. The Elk walk through Gardiner as if they are people. Everywhere. For the property, it was as described and the only suggestion I can provide is to please update the deck furniture on both the front and back porch. Such great opportunities to sit and enjoy and the sound of the river, but the rockers were super easy to rock all the way backwards and we had to prop our feet under the railing to not fall backwards. The metal chairs and table were just not comfortable or relaxing. It is such an incredible space and with some comfy chairs, it would be AMAZING! Front porch, same/same. It would be a great spot to watch the many elk walking into town. We would happily return and encourage anyone visiting Yellowstone to stay here.

Loved this place!
We loved the Quimby cabin. It’s really close to everything in Gardiner. The Yellowstone north entrance was a 5 min drive and you could walk to take pictures in front of the Yellowstone sign. It did get a bit chilly at night and Jess responded quickly so we could get the heat adjusted. All in all, great place and it made our Yellowstone trip that much better!

About the host

Hi! We are Shane, Jess, little Owen, pup Samara and kitties Tarra and Digi. Together we own, enjoy and run ‘The Quimby Cabin.’ Shane has been busy remodeling, restoring and hosting guests in this cabin for the last 6 years, Owen has been giving directions (and taking naps) since 2016 and this is Jess’ fourth season with the rental. We are all so excited to welcome you in!

Shane is from a small farm town in Illinois, however Montana was always on his mind. After life and work took him from Illinois, to a home within Yellowstone National Park and then to Minnesota, he made his way out to Gardiner to reside full time in 2012. In addition to the rental, Shane runs a woodworking business, Badger Creek Rustic Furniture, which has created not only most of the furniture in this home, but in homes and businesses around town.

Owen is Shane’s main man who will be celebrating his fifth birthday this summer. When he’s home, he helps out by providing smiles and giggles and has a real passion for chasing our dog and driving his dump trucks around the yard.

Jess hails from the great state of Minnesota and has known Shane for 10 years now. In the summer of 2018 it made sense for her to make the move. She loves solo traveling, arts and crafts, baking, photography and most certainly, cats. Since quitting her desk job, she has lived in New Zealand, photographed dairy cows in Portugal, cooked for a family in France and served pizza and beer at a top restaurants in Minneapolis. Sitting still is not her forte, so she’s funneling that crazy energy into projects at home and around Gardiner, including adventure photography sessions through her business Chocolate Moose Images.

Why they chose this property

Gardiner and the surrounding ecosystem is magical. It was through a lot of hard work and a little bit of serendipity that the property came to be in our hands, however we put everything we have into it to yield a magical retreat for others to enjoy.

What makes this property unique

We think the view from our property is the best in Gardiner. The cabin sits above the Yellowstone River and looks directly into Yellowstone National Park with views of the Black Canyon of the Yellowstone, Rattlesnake Butte, and Mount Everts all from the kitchen window. We’ve been known to have elk, bison, bighorn sheep, mule deer, marmots and other critters walking around the property and even bedding down in the back yard. Other animals spotted in the surrounding hillsides includes black bear, wolves, coyotes, foxes, waterfowl, and various song birds. We feel this property is within comfortable walking distance of everything in town; restaurants, adventure companies, the North Entrance of Yellowstone and even to the super market (.5 mile away).
