About Colette Kershaw
Steve & Emma have been together for 20 odd years. They met in the UK where Emma is originally from although now been in NZ much longer than the UK. Russell is home. Steve grew up in Auckland but spent most his holidays in the Bay with his parents retiring there. They full restored ‘The White House’ in 2003 opening it as a luxury B&B which they successfully ran for 8 years. Unfortunately work has taken them back to the UK so they are renting her out during this time. They love ‘The White House’.
Colette Kershaw purchased this Villa in 2001
Why Colette Kershaw chose Russell
They walked past it one night on their way back from town to the camp ground. She had been empty for 7 yesrs and neede a lot of work. Steve wanted a last build for himself. She isn’t a historic house. Built in 1840 for missionries. They’d love you to love the White House like they do.
What makes this Villa unique
A 1 minute flat walk to the waterfront, restaurants, bars and wharf for all your tours, whilst being very sheltered with sub tropical gardens at the back you’d never know you were right in town.

Bedrooms & ensuites upstairs very comfortable & well-equipped.
Bedrooms & ensuites upstairs very comfortable & well-equipped. Carpet & downstairs lounge furniture could do with updating & courtyard a bit untidy. However location is good & it’s a nice old house.
Very comfortable and well equipped.

The White House ideally suited our needs as a four ensuite bedroom property.
The White House ideally suited our needs as a four ensuite bedroom property. It is literally 2 min flat walk to restaurants, bars, shops and the Russell Jetty. It is well equipped for a family or group such as ours who wish to self cater as well as eat out.
Russell is a charming village which gives the feel of an island. It is well located to explore the Bay of Islands region, both on land and on the water.
Good base for doing the tourist trip we had planned and easy to walk to ferry and local to all shops

Really fantastic location, lovely rooms, everything really clean and there to use.
Really fantastic location, lovely rooms, everything really clean and there to use.It was just teh 2 of us, but teh place would also be great for 2-3 couples to stay as each bedroom is excellent with own ensuite etc.. . We did found it a little cold at times, had the heaters running flat out the whole time, I suppose it is one of the oldest house in the country so not that well insulated ;-)
We will definitely stay here again !
