Liz & Mike Carter
About Liz & Mike Carter
After childhood experience in the country and being disheartened by the noise and small city plots we found our slice of heaven in the country and became proud lifestyle block owners. Mike is an architect who previously had his architectural practice within the cottage before converting it into accommodation and now works as an architect project manager in town. Liz is full time home manager and organic gardener. We are involved in our community being on the local school board of trustees and chair of the Whakamarama Community Centre/Hall committee.
Liz & Mike Carter purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Liz & Mike Carter chose Whakamarama
We were keen to give our family a taste of the kind of childhood experiences we had growing up in rural environments - space to play, ride bikes, and peace and quiet.
What makes this Cottage unique
We choose this property because it had a bit of land which meant we could be less dependent upon supermarkets and more self sufficient as we could grow some of our own food. We were also attracted by the beautiful bush outlook.

Beautiful little cabin, was the perfect place for a long weekend away - fireplace kept us warm and lots of places to explore nearby for day trips. Photos do not do it justice, very clean and tidy, excellent fully equipt kitchen and plenty of room. Hope to be back again soon, didn't want to leave - thanks for having us!
Great to share our Slice of Heaven again with appreciative guests.
Slice of Heaven indeed!
Liz was prompt with communications and extremely and and helpful. The location and accommodation were peaceful and just what our souls needed.
It was lovely to have such wonderful guests and to know they enjoyed their stay.
Slice of Heaven
This is a wonderful place to base yourself to explore the Kaimais, Tauranga, Western Bay and beyond.
We found Liz and Mike’s place to be the epitome of care, comfort, coziness and calm. What a perfectly situated home to base ourselves for our daily tramps or beach visits. We so enjoyed not having to drive very far to find a wealth of culture, tramping and nature.
Our hosts were extremely responsive to any questions or needs we had.
We are so happy we decided to base our two week stay at this cottage. We truly felt we started and ended each day as if we were home.
We highly recommend visiting this true Slice of Heaven.
It was a pleasure to host such amazing guests. They arrived as visitors and left as friends. Sharing our Slice of Heaven with them was a privilege.
Peace & Quiet
Beautiful property, I love the quirky stairs
A peaceful getaway for couples
A perfect spot for a getaway, very peaceful and private. Clean, warm and cosy. It was nice to visit the stream at the bottom of the property, and the fresh flowers on arrival were a nice welcoming touch. Perfect location. Thank you to Liz & Mike for sharing your ‘Slice of Heaven’.
We enjoy welcoming guests to stay in our cottage, this place is too lovely not to share it with others.
