A step back in time
Loved it! Made it having option of cooking on coal range which we did. Renovations sympathetic to period. Wished we could have stayed longer.

Great Value Old World Charm
Just a one night stay. We enjoyed sunset on the deck, and the interesting garden. We appreciated the fresh coffee beans and the recommendation for Bean Jazzed cafe for breakfast! Wonderful place.

Great location and comfy stay
We really appreciated the comfortable beds and the provision of a well equiped kitchen. The night lights were a thoughtful touch and very useful at night time when getting to the toilet. It would have been helpful to be clear in the listing what heating is offered and that the oven doesnt really work, nor do a couple of elements. We got this information when we asked for it. The location is great and there is room for bikes under shelter and unloading the car is easy with parking close by. The property is quiet and private and the bedrooms are a good size. The main thing that let this property down was the quality of the cleaning. The ktichen floor was dirty as were the outside of the cupboards; there were a lot of cobwebs around the inside as well. Maybe consider changing your cleaning provider to improive this holiday let.

Good location
A tidy cottage in a good location ideal for our overnight stay. We lit the coal range to warm ourselves which made the kitchen cozy but standard heaters supplied would have been inadequate on a cold day. Nice to have 3 queen bedrooms for couples. Surprised no TV which didn't worry us but could concern other guests. Food provisions appreciated. Good luck with the continuing restoration.

Great location and tidy and functional property. Bathroom is adequate but no extractor fan or heater. Kitchen is ok but oven literally doesn't work and hotplates are very temperamental for regulating temp. Some pots do not work at all on the cook top. (elements keep switching off). We got by using BBQ outside. Would benefit from a heat pump or log burner. Plenty of heaters but must cost a small fortune to heat in winter. Overall no major dramas and owner was very helpful. Worked for us as a group of workers in Lawrence for a week but a family might not be so stoked with oven not heating up and other cooking issues mentioned.

We are a retired couple with passion for renovation, sustainable living, recycling, gardening, art, clay sculpture and photography. We bring this enthusiasm for renewal from the poured earth house and gardens we have built as our home in NSW Mid North Coast in Australia, to our holiday home in Lawrence.
The photographs displayed in the cottage are all originals taken by myself.
We so much enjoyed renovating in Lawrence, we have just bought another "project" elsewhere in Lawrence and are continuing the restoration work.

Why they chose this property

We were immediately attracted to Lawrence for its history, setting and sense of community. We wanted to play a small part in preserving that history by rescuing one of the original cottages using skills we have accumulated in our working lives. We levelled and re-piled, repaired and painted the exterior, added the front veranda and back courtyard, redesigned the kitchen and bathroom areas, re-clad the bedroom with the bay window, painted and carpeted throughout and created all the gardens. We hope you enjoy what we have achieved.

What makes this property unique

Although the property was pretty ordinary when we first saw it, we were immediately attracted to its potential. Each room has a feature we have been able to preserve and enhance. being built circa 1875, it has had many owners and each has made their mark in some way. Our mark is to create a holiday home for ourselves, family and friends and as a getaway for anyone else looking to enjoy a stay in Lawrence. We have aimed for an atmosphere of homely comfort and hope you enjoy staying as much as we do!
