Great Location
The house itself is in a great location with shops, recreation, restaurants, and grocery stores that are not a far drive. The write up for the house did not say that there are beach chairs and umbrellas available, so we brought our own. The commodes were new, higher models that flushed well every time, which was wonderful. The water pressure is excellent with enough hot water for everyone to shower without running out. The kitchen supplies for cooking were very good. Having two refrigerators is a great plus. The ice maker is wonderful. Our main problem was that the tub/shower of the middle level, for the queen bedroom would not drain so that five inches of water would be standing while you tried to shower. This really affected our rating and made our stay much less pleasant. In addition, several chairs that go with the main table were weak and more or less broken. There was a odor that seemed to be that of moth balls on the top floor. It seemed strongest near the locked closet door of the queen bedroom on the top floor. Moth balls are toxic, and not good for anyone's health. There are no grab bars in any of the showers for safety. The vacuum provided has weak suction, so it was challenging to vacuum the midges that came in when you opened to door at night. Management was very pleasant when texting about the tub not draining, but no one came to fix the problem. That could be our fault because I expressed concern about maintenance being trustworthy. When you go to the beach, you tend to leave some items of concern. I removed a handful of cookie crumbs and left over cookies from under the cushions of the couch that backs up to the wet bar. Housekeeping needs to improve their thoroughness. I suspect the hair that was in the bath tub, in the queen suite, on the middle level, was because that tub drains so very, very poorly. We would not rent that house again unless we were assured that that drain had been fixed. The grill that was provided was adequate. We could live with any issues except that drain that would not drain. The house plan is very good for parents with children. The mattresses were good overall. The top bedroom suite is very nice except for the smell of what I think are moth balls. That was very concerning for someone who knows about the toxicity of moth balls. We enjoyed our stay over all. The non draining tub was a huge disappointment not to mention unsanitary.

Very nice family week in Duck
A nice house overall with a few issues due to age. The deck boards are getting pretty bad with age. Carpet is getting pretty dirty and worn. Some of the kitchen pans very pretty dirty, need replacing. Bad timing with a huge midge outbreak in the whole area so there were swarms of these things all over Duck/Corolla including around the house and decks. The spiders were all over as well building webs. Beach weather was very good for us.
