A perfect villa for friends and families looking for a memorable northern Tuscany experience.
We absolutely loved our stay at Villa San Guido. The property is exquisite and the villa itself is perfectly charming, with great bedroom accommodations, wonderful outdoor dining spaces, a gorgeous (albeit unheated) pool, and a great kitchen and dining area for guests who like to do their own cooking. If anything, the pictures of the pool don't do it justice. It's in the ideal spot on the grounds with a breathtaking view overlooking a Tuscan hillside. Perfect for an early morning cup of coffee with the sun in your face.
We had several great cooks on our trip, so we all took turns entertaining and hired a private chef for one very special meal with a traditional Tuscan cooking class.
The weather was gorgeous in mid-October. And the villa is very convenient to Florence and lots of great day trips by car. We never tired of touring the Tuscan countryside, stopping at vineyards and picturesque towns along the way.
The renters and their staff were extremely easy to work with and helpful, though we didn't avail ourselves of daily cooking from Ivan, the caretaker, since we preferred to cook our own meals. Nonetheless, Ivan and his wife kept the place very tidy and were able to answer what few questions we had during our stay.
And the villa's guidebook was EXTREMELY thorough and helpful. There wasn't a topic that wasn't covered, and the recommendations were all quite good. The owners have very good taste.
Our only complaint was that the listing on VRBO mentioned two fireplaces, which we were really looking forward to. Unfortunately, the listing didn't mention that those fireplaces can't be operated until later in the year due to regional restrictions, which was a shame since the fireplaces themselves looked lovely and would have made our evenings even more cozy.
But that's a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things. Everyone in our party had a wonderful time and would definitely stay at Villa San Guido again if we were looking for a place to visit in that part of Italy in the future.
We had a wonderful week long stay from October 5 - 12, 2019. The house was beautifully appointed appropriate for a centuries old home. The location in Impruneta was convenient to so many great locations. A car is a must! The grounds are a parkland of Tuscan beauty.
Nothing short of Fabulous!
We were a party of 7 friends and family on vacation to enjoy Tuscany and were thrilled with this beautiful villa and the service that we received from day 1 of our booking. The villa was stunning and tremendously relaxing and comfortable. In fact, I don’t think I have ever slept so well and so much! The bedrooms were huge, and outdoor areas peaceful and beautiful. This countryside is totally stunning and fun to drive around in and explore. As complete foreigners to the area, we really appreciated the detailed information provided to us about getting around, grocery shopping, restaurants, etc. Ivan and his wife were so helpful and non-intrusive, and cleaned the house very quickly and thoughtfully. Impruneta is a pretty little historical, non-touristy town, and it was fun to go to the cafe bar and local restaurants and immerse ourselves in the very friendly locals and try out our poor but well-intended Italian. We will absolutely return as soon as possible... in fact are considering purchasing a retirement vacation apartment in the area!
Truly Under the Tuscan Sun and Stars
We fell in love with the history of the villa and the tasteful way it was decorated. The rich history of the Borghese family can be felt in every corner of the majestic estate. The combination of the old and new, in the art, books and furniture are breathtaking. The setting is beautiful and romantic.
It was both stately and elegant, but also warm and inviting.
The area is surrounded by some of the best wineries, restaurants, churches and castles in Chianti and Tuscany.
Convenient to both Florence and Sienna, you can have the best of both worlds, city and country. There is also great shopping in the area also, with something for anyone. The Mall is the biggest outlet in the world for Italian Designer clothes, while Florence and the surrounding area is full of traditional artisans of everything from leather, cashmere, paper, and gourmet foods.
Villa San Guido is and idyllic home base for a true Tuscan experience.
Wonderful time at this beautiful villa
We had a fabulous time at the villa. We had 6 adults (2 of which are grandparents) and 4 kids, ages 8-12. The pool was beautiful and the house was spacious and clean. The caretaker, Ivan, was very helpful.
Before we arrived the owners were very responsive and answered all our questions. We used Marinella, whom they recommended, to help us plan our trips and she was priceless. We visited Florence, Lucca, Sienna and some other towns. We rented a car and used Tomas to drive as well. We hired the recommended
caterer (Sedan) for a delicious wine pairing dinner and Ivan also made few great breakfasts for us.
The villa has plenty of room and the bedrooms are air conditioned. We ate outside on the beautiful terrace many nights. (There are mosquitos so pack bug spray but it’s not too bad.)
We couldn’t have been happier, it was a trip we will never forget!
