Perfect nature getaway cabin
My group of 12 had an amazing time at the cabin. The location to the hiking trails walkable from the cabin was a great feature. The house was clean and well stocked. Communication was amazing and the owners clearly know what they are doing. Being secluded in nature and not hearing any outside noise was so relaxing. Will definitely be booking again in the fall.

Home Away From Home
This was our second summer in a row staying at this awesome cabin! It is so close to Shades State Park and Turkey Run State Park that you barley have to use your vehicle while staying here. The cabin itself is very cool and rustic chic! We were pleasantly surprised to find that the cabin was updated even more since we last stayed! The cabin is also very clean and we never feel like that is compromised while we are here. This time during our stay we encountered a random derecho storm towards the latter half of our stay. We lost power and had to stay a night with no electricity. Thank God we had a fireplace to use and it was still fun and cozy! This place already holds a special place in our hearts. Truly, our home away from home!! :)

We have been working on our properties here since 2009, building a small, cozy space for wellness, yoga and recreation in the wilderness of western Indiana. My husband and I purchased the 15 acre parcel which included this log cabin and the Farmhouse Cottage next door which is inside Shades State Park and Pine Hills Nature Preserve. The surrounding property is approximately 6000 acres of gorgeous old growth forest, rivers, canyons, and pure silence and serenity. Our vision was to combine my work as a Life Change Consultant and Yoga Instructor with his work as a Naturopathic Doctor specializing in nutrition and wild plants.

Why they chose this property

This property truly is located against one of the most unique backdrops in Indiana. The location is amazing and has been called the darkest place in Indiana, which makes for wonderful stargazing opportunities. It's perfect for camp outs, retreats, weddings or romance. It has been called the most unusual place in Indiana due to the many cliff formations in Pine Hills Nature Preserve. The cabin itself is very cozy and accommodating and filled with locally sourced furniture. The owner has built the log furniture and the stair rails with cedar logs from the property and all the other furniture has been made by local craftsmen from Rockville, IN. The 24x24 patio is literally 5 feet from The Pine Hills Preserve and deer frequent the property daily. The cabin also has a very comfy loft that looks out through the the vaulted ceiling windows and provides a wonderful place kids games or reading or just watching the sun go down.

What makes this property unique

The location of this cabin is remarkable. It is surrounded by protected ground on 3 sides and sits against some of the oldest trees in Indiana. It's uniqueness lies within its stillness.
