The Settlers Cottage takes advantage of exclusive views of the mountains and vast Barrengarry Farmland and is designed to make you feel like you have stepped back in time to the days of the early settlers in Kangaroo Valley & Barrengarry - yet retains conveniences and comforts of modern living.
Just the one queen-size bed with and open fire, makes this perfect for a couples romantic getaway! Enjoy the old world charm of unique fittings such as: Pull chain lights and toilet and an antique claw-foot bath, while still having some modern comforts in the Reverse cycle air conditioner and the TV. Enjoy a walk with the wildlife in the surrounding farmland, or just snuggle up in front of the fire with that special someone; firewood for the 1st night provided from May to September. Additional wood can be purchased from the petrol station in the village.
If you feel like going out, why not take a short stroll for one of the renowned local pies or take a swim in the river. If you enjoy venturing into the past then a visit the local Pioneer Museum is a must and only a short walk away. The small village of Kangaroo Valley is a 2 minute drive away and provides a variety of cafe's and the local pub for breakfast, lunch & dinner, or the general store can provide you with all you need if you prefer to cook yourself in the equipped kitchenette (no oven) and stay in your secluded hideaway.

We had an amazing stay,the hosts have thought of everything all you have to do is enjoy the sublimeness,unfortunately our stay was cut short through personal reasons but we will be back.

Living in colonial history

The settlers cottage is like living in a museum tableau which is great fun. Having said that it has all the mod cons you want – TV, air conditioning, fridge and microwave etc. But frankly, who needs it, just bring a stack of books. a couple of bottles of wine, some bread and cheeses and move around from east to west from front veranda to back porch and enjoy your stay. Say hi to the friendly little lizards under the front steps and the bull in the back paddock.

The cottage is an authentic feeling step back in time with the little modern day luxuries such as air conditioning if you need it. The fireplace adds a beautiful ambience. Instant relaxation and contentment especially after a candle lit soak in the huge claw foot tub ❤️

A lovely rural location with lots of character

This is a well equipped retreat with lots of history captured in the decor. We loved sitting on the porch with a wine and nibbles enjoying the distant mountain views and watching the cows in the paddock just in front of us.

Very relaxing stay

This was a wonderful little place, true to its name “Settlers Cottage.” It feels like a step back in time but still with the modern. A couple of suggestions I would make is a mattress topper would be welcome. I like a firm bed but this bordered on hard. Other than that it was very good.

Lovely little getaway

We really enjoyed our time at Settler's. The owners have thought of everything from the little decorative touches to the fresh eggs provided. Perfect for a couple looking to spend some time together. The fireplace was fantastic, beds comfortable and the bath very relaxing. Highly recommend!

Perfect Cottage

This was a great stay. I was a little worried that it would be too small, however this was not the case with ample room for two people. The back verandah was great and the cows were good company over a beer or two. The gramophone was a lot of fun, made everything even feel old world.

Lovely cute cottage with authentic decor. The kitchen didn’t have an oven though and so my pre made meals were not able to be eaten. Apart from this we really enjoyed our stay. Loved the bath and relaxing in the sun in the garden. Would stay again

What a wonderful pace to unwind and relax. There are so many things to look at photos, Nic Nacs open fire place and even a wash house with wonderful stuff I will recommend that it is a MUST STAY

Stunning Property

The Settlers Cottage was simply wonderful. From the outside it looks sweet and rustic and inside is decorated beautifully with lots of period bits and pieces but with all the mod cons. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering stays or Kangaroo Valley town is a few minutes by car or 20 by foot. We enjoyed wine and cheese on the back veranda watching the resident cows and the whole place felt very peaceful and relaxing. I can't recommend the Settler's Cottage highly enough and hope to be back soon.
