It’s a perfect little house/getaway. Lighting could be better outside at night and WiFi would be nice however just spending time together playing games and watching movies was more than enough. More child/family movie selection would be great.
Adorable country cottage!
Loved the property as well as the cottage! Hosts were super very responsive and helpful! Overall a great experience!
Family Get Away
This was exactly what we were looking for as a family get away to unwind and recharge. Cabin was exactly what we wanted. We loved being able to sit by the fire and just chill out and play games together. Natchez Trails were close by and shopping was close by too! We went to Richland and also was able to visit family in Jackson. Looking forward to our next stay here just trying to figure out dates in the fall! Can't wait to go back. Only issue (not really an issue but personal preference based off of family having younger children) is that although a huge selection of movies, not a large section of movies we could watch as a family.
Thank you so much for that recommendation! We will certainly add some Disney movies.
Beauty in Nature
This home was well appointed and had everything our family could want in a vacation home. Southern beauty would be the only way to describe it! Would love to stay here again!
My family enjoyed the stay very much. No distractions and were able to catch up on each other’s lives.
Peaceful Cabin in the Woods
We stayed a Friday through Monday at the cabin. The cabin is lovely and very clean. The location is rural but only 15 minutes to stores and restaurants. Our favorite spot was the screened in porch facing the wooded back yard and pond. With no internet or cable tv we were unplugged and it was a wonderful time for family. The large dvd collection did allow for some tv time and Verizon network works well so we didn’t feel completely cut off.
I will mention these issues only for the sake of others traveling in small vehicles and with children. The roads to the cabin are very narrow and very foggy and dark at night. The driveway to the cabin is gravel and is in terrible need of grading and leveling. We drove a mini van and struggled to enter the drive due to the large tree roots and large ruts in the ground. The entire driveway is this way and is difficult to enter and exit. The lighting on the front path is very low and hard to see at night. We used our phone flashlights to enter the cabin at night. The back deck has rails with large gaps between the railings and the only light is a motion detector that doesn’t stay on so you can’t really be on the deck at night. The inside stairs are steep and slippery. They were difficult for the 5 year old with our family to maneuver. The showers are very dated and have very low mounted shower heads that are also very small and not easy for anyone tall to use. There are no pictures of upstairs so I’ll note that the rooms are a decent size and each room has a bunk bed with a double bottom and twin top. The trundle mattresses are very hard. There is a lot of closet space in all rooms and the master bed is very comfortable and the room is very large. I also want to share that there is a mandatory insurance fee that is not mentioned until you are booking the cabin. There is a washer and dryer but the instruction manual at the cabin stated guest may only use them to wash towels if needed. We travel frequently and never have encountered this restriction.
Overall the cabin is lovely and very peaceful but it’s definitely more of an all adult cabin and the driveway is a huge issue. If the driveway is graded we would definitely stay again for an adult getaway.
Thank you for your review! We are working to have the driveway graded and re-graveled.
The cabin is situated in a private, rural area on 5 acres that is very close (3 miles) to the Natchez Trace where there are many walking trials and biking trails along the Trace. It is also near the Ross Barnett Reservoir that offers fishing, boating, and water skiing. The cabin is near three towns - Madison, MS, Ridgeland, MS and Canton, MS - where there are excellent restaurants and shopping.
