About this property

Cosy cottage, well equiped for a lovely weekend away. Perfect for a couple or 3 people. Baby cot is available. Come to Broadstairs and see where the film Empire Of Light was filmed - sit on the bench where Olivia Coleman was filmed overlooking Broadstairs beach (see last image) and play at the same mini golf. Margate promenade and dreamland is 15 mins drive away where the rest of the filming was done.

Modern cottage style non-smoking fully equipped property, on one level, close to beach (2 minutes walk), restaurants and shops (less than 2 mins walk).

We offer a self check in system - you can choose when to arrive and use a keycode to gain entry. Details will be sent a few days before your stay.
Our property is strictly pet free, and now is shoe free as well, to maintain hygiene levels.
Fully equipped features include wifi, phone, 32" wall mounted TV with Sky (features iplayer, Itv player, internet, Amazon prime, Netflix (with your own account), DVD, dishwasher, induction 2 ring hob and microwave oven (no conventional oven), fridge (with no freezer), central heating, large walk in shower and plentiful instant hot water. Has a double bed, a single bed and a highchair and cot for under 3's can be made available. Our cushions, pillows and duvets may contain feathers.

The property is all on one level (with 3 steps down to the main bedroom) and a walk in shower, so is suitable for people who are unable to manage stairs.

Property is pet free (for the convenience and comfort of all our guests, we cannot accommodate your dog or cat, no matter how house trained, sorry).

Location - We are very centrally located on a small lane between the promenade (Eastern Esplanade) that overlooks the beach and the road with restaurants, shops etc. Due to its location, there is some pedestrian traffic passing by.

Parking - Being so central, we have no parking attached to property. I will send you a map showing all the free parking in close vicinity with your check in details. You can pull up outside property to drop off people/bags/shopping/nip to the loo before parking.

Well behaved children are welcome. We have a small child who loves coming to Broadstairs and often asks to be brought here. Cot/high chair available.

Fantastic location

Cute little cottage in a perfect location for beach, shops, pub’s and restaurants in Broadstairs. Can also walk to trains and buses. Our first visit to Broadstairs - we loved it and will return, and would stay in this cottage again. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a small cottage in the centre of town.

Great location.

An ideal place for easy access to town with a great choice of restaurant and cafes. Come out of the front door, turn right and there’s turn, turn left and there’s the Cliff tops, lovely walks and views. We parked up on the cliffs beyond Dickens House (about 5 minute walk) without trouble but that was in March, summer could be challenging. I would definitely stay there again.

Great location and cosy cottage

We had a lovely week-end in Broadstairs and the cottage was in a good location for all that we wanted to do - in spite of the rain!

We have owned Dickens Walk Cottage since 2007, and have equipped it as a holiday home that we enjoy using.
In 2012 we refurbished the property in a modern cottage style.
We bought the cottage as a bolt hole, somewhere to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life in a city, and use it as a place to recharge and refresh our bodies and mind, finding inspiration in simple pleasures such as; rockpooling, swimming in the sea, long windswept coast walks, eating fish and chips on the beach, meeting friendly people, buying food from the local baker, the butcher, the greengrocer.....

Why they chose this property

Living in London, its easy access and sense of 'getting away from it all' makes Broadstairs our favourite place to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Our favourite day features a long beach walk, fish and chips al fresco or lovely lunch out, reading or playing games in the afternoon and in the evening curling up on the sofa watching a movie with a Thai takeaway or simple home cooked supper.

What makes this property unique

"Why do you love Broadstairs so much?" is a question I get asked often. The answer is, each season has so much to offer:
In Summer - The Guardian voted Broadstairs one of the best seaside towns in Britain and we agree. We now have a small child, and he loves being on the beach. Dickens Walk Cottage is ideally situated two minutes walk from Viking beach and two minutes from shops and restaurants.

Spring and Autumn - The Viking trail (cycling/walking) and coastal walks are on your doorstep. Margate’s rejuvenated Old Town and the Turner Contemporary is worth a visit. Broadstairs historic streets are a joy to wander around, a picturesque place to get away from it all.

Winter - Dickens Walk cottage is warm and cosy in winter, making it the perfect place to retreat.
