About this property

Casa Los Tres Molinos 500 year old Finca in glorious valley of wild beauty

Our beautiful 500 year old cottage Casa Los Tres Molinos (House of the three windmills) is a lovingly renovated traditional “finca” set in an untouched valley on the edge of Jesus Pobre. The village lies equidistant (one hour’s easy drive) between Alicante and Valencia. The valley is a nature reserve and the house boasts tremendous views of the reserve. Jesus Pobre is situated slightly inland from the coast, between the charming resort town Javea, and the more metropolitan Denia and close to the charming small market town of Gata de Gorgos. From Denia it is only a two hour ferry ride to Ibiza. We are perfectly situated for enjoying the scenic beaches of the “Costa Blanca”, but the house also provides a rural retreat. It is down a track so there is no traffic noise but with a bustling and vibrant village on the doorstep.
Jesus Pobre is a small, charming and welcoming community that lies underneath the enigmatic elephant shaped “Montgo” mountain. The village has three popular bars, two of which serve good food on lovely terraces, plus two restaurants. There are two village shops, a pharmacy and an excellent bakers and a good Vet. More amenities can be found in nearby Gata de Gorgos. The cottage sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms over two levels (two double beds, one with two singles). The communal spaces are large and unfussy, with a big dining kitchen that includes a bar. There is also an open plan living area with Satellite TV, DVD, sound system, library, games etc. We have WIFI. The traditional fireplace is particularly cosy during the winter months. The washing machine facilities are situated outside on the back terrace. WiFi is now included in the property!
“Casa Los Tres Molinos” (“House of the three windmills”) nestles in the side of a terraced hill under three old windmills. There is a swimming pool above the house. Surrounded by patio and trees, this spot offers a glorious view over the valley and to the Montgo beyond. The house is equally suited to family beach/pool holidays as it is to artists, writers, walkers and bird watchers. Since our family first brought the property in 1967 many artists have been inspired by the house and created work on the sheltered patio. Our open plan patio at the front is a lovely place to sit and have meals. It is covered but with lovely views onto the valley and the pines and almond trees.

We are a family with 4 children and my husband bought the Finca in the 1960's. It is very old around 500 years and we have spent time renovating it. Our children have spent their summers in the house and it is a perfect place to relax with family and friends. The valley is incredibly beautiful and the house is down a track into the valley so you have no road noise but a vibrant and charming village with excellent facilities on the doorstep. Our Finca is very much part of the village community and is surrounded by permanent residents. The location is truly stunning and the house has a happy and warm feel to it. It is ideal for all ages. It is a piece of rural paradise and people return again and again. This house captures the imagination and the valley is sweet smelling and fragrant and you get the scent of wild fennel and rosemary and thyme as the valley is untouched and is a preservation site of outstanding natural beauty. This Finca is not only beautiful and unusual but also romantic and unique. We welcome Dogs at our Cottage. The Costa Blanca has many colourful and gorgeous Fiestas all over Spain and each village is unique. The towns and villages are beautifully decorated and the atmosphere is energetic and electric with a huge buzz in the air as everybody celebrates. They are magical and heartwarming. In our village the Fiesta starts 7 weeks after Easter and is a wonderful week of celebrations and community spirit. The Spanish Fiesta are totally brilliant and so much love, care and imagination go into these local events. All ages love them and they are a part of Spanish Life and Spanish History.

Why they chose this property

Once down our track into the valley you are surrounded by natural beauty. On the front patio you have a stunning view of the Mediterranean and from the front patio you have the view of the Montgo which is a mountain that looks like a sleeping elephant. The village of Jesus Pobre nestles beneath this beautiful mountain and there is a local saying that says if you stay by the Montgo you always return. Guests return again and again. Dogs are very welcome. Our housekeepers live 5 minutes away and are there for help and support and to welcome guests and make them comfortable. The pool area now has black metal railings covered with a glorious deep purple bourgainvillea. The front patio area is completely secure so no children or dogs can escape!. Our patio at the front is a lovely spacious area which is covered and ideal for eating with a viewing window onto the valley. When down our track into the valley all you hear is the wildlife on our hillside and the rustling of Almond and Pine Trees in the valley.

What makes this property unique

Quiet and peaceful down the track into the valley but with a wonderful village on the doorstep with good Bars/Restaurants/Shops/Medical Centre/Vets/Banks etc. Our house is good for Dogs as they can bark and nobody will be disturbed as it is down a track into the valley.
You do not hear a car in our house and this is a great treat and relief in this day and age of continual noise. Our lovely house has real ancient charm and is greatly loved by our children and their friends. A famous Poet called Edmund Blunden once lived in the valley and his summerhouse is still there and a bench with his name on is in the valley. It is truly beautiful, inspirational, unusual, unique and romantic in the valley over looking the lush groves to the Mediterranean. It is more beautiful than the photos according to everyone who has been there and the photos are currently being uploaded to show the glorious bourgainvillea at the front by the well which trails over the swimming pool railings and is a glorious deep purple.
