A much loved family holiday home situated in the idyllic wilderness of the Scottish Highlands. Nestled between Loch Shiel and Beinn Resipol, this prior hunting lodge offers a great base for cycling, kayaking, hill climbing, and — simply leaving the world behind. Whether traveling with extended family or holidaying with a group of friends, Glenhurich is the perfect destination to reconnect with the great outdoors and with one another.
Glenhurich Lodge is located in the small peaceful hamlet of Polloch on Ardnamurchan that lies between scenic Loch Doilet and the magnificent Loch Shiel. Ardnamurchan is the most Westerly peninsula on the UK mainland and is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful and remote wilderness areas on the West coast of Scotland.
The area is home to some of the few remaining ancient oakwoods and is a haven for naturalists, artists, photographers, sports enthusiasts and those who are simply searching for peace & tranquillity.
Glenhurich Lodge is a wonderful escape.
Close at hand are many outdoor pursuits, including walking, cycling, climbing, fishing (river, loch and sea), bird-watching, canoeing and star gazing on clear nights. A "walk on the wild side'" starts at the front door and there are wonderful walks to be enjoyed in the surrounding glens and hills, ranging from leisurely lochside walks to stiff climbs to gain the magnificent views of lochs and mountains from the ridges. Those interested in the local fauna will find this a perfect paradise. Deer (red, roe, fallow and muntjac), pine martins, wild cats, foxes, red squirrels and badgers roam the woodlands with otters along the watercourses. Bird lovers will find themselves in heaven, because in addition to many song birds, buzzards, osprey, etc, the area is one of the best landscapes to observe Scotland's largest raptors. Golden eagles can be seen soaring in the sky, often accompanied by mocking buzzards, and the spectacular white-tailed-sea-eagle, re-introduced in 1975, is becoming a common visitor to Loch Shiel. Despite the unspoiled wilderness of Glenhurich on the Southerly shores of Loch Shiel, approximately eight miles away is the local village of Strontian, which has a tourist information centre, supply store, hotels, a post office, police station, petrol station, camp site and doctors' surgery.
Some 30 miles away by road is the outdoor capital of the highlands, Fort William and nearby Ben Nevis, which boasts world-class mountain biking and skiing in winter at Aonach Mor, and the start of the Road to the Isles.
