About this property

Lakeside Canadian Log Cabin (40 minutes from Mont Tremblant)

Beautiful Canadian log cabin overlooking a small lake. Across the lake is crown land, so views are of pristine wilderness, consisting of birch, pine and maple tree forest. The lake contains many inlets and a resident loon.

The beachfront is sandy and shallow for approximately 4 metres before falling off abruptly. Plenty of room for children to play or build sand castles in the sand or splash and wade in the water (supervised). The dock is T-shaped, and it is deep enough to jump, dive or fish off the dock's end. The rental includes access to a canoe (3 people) and kayak (1 person) for exploring the lake's inlets, waterfall and beaver lodges.

The cottage is situated on 3.5 acres of forested land, with a large garden and plenty of space for lounging or playing ball. We built a stone fire pit on the property which guests can use. There are also abundant raspberry bushes (wild and cultivated) in season, as well as a small budding orchard. The cottage is surrounded by a terrace, and includes a barbecue and gazebo (for eating outside without being bothered by mosquitos or flies).

Inside, the cottage is large and spacious, with a fully equipped chef's kitchen (including gas Viking Range). The main room also has a gas fireplace and modern Scandinavian wood burning fire, surrounded by a semi-circular sofa.

Upstairs are three bedrooms (two Queen beds (one room with a child's crib), and one children's room with 2 twin beds). In the basement are children's toys, a TV and a fourth bedroom (1 Queen bed) which leads out to the lake through French doors (there is a toddler bed in the basement also that folds out into another twin bed).

There are 2.5 bathrooms: a large bathroom upstairs with 2-person jacuzzi tub and shower, a half bathroom on the main floor, and a bathroom in the basement with shower and 4-person cedar sauna.

In the small town of La Minerve (10 minutes' drive), you will find a grocery store with a small SAQ (for wine and beer), a garage (with gas station), a delicious Belgian bakery, a hardware store, and a general store.

The cottage is a 45 minute drive to Mont Tremblant (with its world-class restaurants, hiking, biking, and skiing), a 20 minute drive to Labelle (and the 'Linear Park' of the Petit Train du Nord, a 200-km bicycle and cross-country ski trail that runs through the Laurentians).

Great vacation property overlooking a lake with beach!
Our three-generation family gathering enjoyed our time together at this relaxing 4-bedroom cottage. The toddlers had fun in the lake and on the beach while the adults went out on kayaks and boards. The screened-in gazebo was a great gathering place for meals and other activities. This was our second year here. We appreciated the new dock which gave us a bigger beach. We hope to go back next year!

Beautiful lakefront property with a beach
Our group of 7 adults and 2 children under 2 took advantage of this spacious and well laid out cottage. The one exception was the corner double sink in the kitchen, which was awkward to reach. The small sandy beach was ideal for our toddler and the beautiful lake a dream for the kayakers and swimmers. Lots of sitting areas inside and outside the cottage, at the fire pit and at the beach. We would gladly go there again.

A peaceful paradise
We couldn’t have been more happy with our stay. The listing is very accurate. The place is very well equipped even with small things like coffee filters, toilet paper, spices, etc. Krista was excellent in her communications with us. France, who met us when we arrived, was very helpful and accessible while we were there. The views are stunning from the balcony overlooking the lake. There were very few boats or people on the lake….we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Fantastic paddling on glass smooth water. It was perfect for 2 couples and dogs for privacy and safety. We enjoyed cycling on P’tit Train du Nord, hiking in the mountings and golfing. The location is remote and therefore lots of bumpy road travel to get to places. While there is always something that can be improved, La Minerve was almost perfect. We will return. Thank you, Krista

A wonderful week
The location was ideal for us. We enjoyed exploring the many bays of the pristine lake in our kayaks. We were lucky with the weather and we used the beach every day. Great for my grandchildren. The adults enjoyed diving off the dock. The cabin itself is great. It is very well equipped. We enjoyed sitting on the porch overlooking the lake. The view is great. A few minor negative points: The area around the kitchen stove needs a thorough cleaning (some surfaces are slightly sticky with grease). Upon our arrival, the lady who walked us through the cabin gave us a list of a few broken things: the spa-bathtub does not work, the upstairs shower has a cracked floor covered with duck tape (so please take quick showers), the oven does not work, the door does not lock properly. Also, there was a minimal amount of toilet paper (we ran out after 3 days), the state of the dishtowels was gross. But these were minor inconveniences. Overall, it was a great week.

Why they chose this property

We wanted a cottage where we felt we were in nature, but were close to amenities because we have small children. This cottage faces crown land, and the neighbours are not visible from the property. The views are sublime. We see the geese fly overhead in spring and summer, the sun turns the facing mountains a rich gold in the evening, the leaves turn crips red in the fall, and are able to explore the inlets of the small lake by canoe or kayak. The shore line is sandy, with plenty of room for building sand castles, or shallow wading, but the water is deep enough to jump in off the dock (or fish off the dock's edge). We instantly feel at peace at Lac Croche.
