8/10 Good

A gem but a bit rundown
First I have to say that my husband and I enjoyed exploring this area and it was nice to be away from the more touristy areas. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It’s unfortunate that this property hasn’t been kept up because it has lots of potential. It was nice to be right beside the ocean, but sad to see all the garbage on the shore right in front of this place. The garden and pool area hasn’t been kept up either. We were the only ones staying at the property so it was very quiet. The breakfasts at the restaurant were delicious. Overall, we don’t regret staying here.

wonderful relaxation
The room and host was better than expected. So quaint and peaceful! Amazing decor that highlighted both the beach & Mexico. Would make the trip just to stay here again. We had a little trouble getting in. There is security on the road getting in and the hotel. Security wouldn't let us in even when we showed them our reservation. It was a language misunderstanding that when we called the owner she told us we did have the right place to tell them to let us in. We eventually got back and had no other problems. Just beware of them trying to turn you away. The restaurant attached was good, the only food around. There is a small cenote across the street for a fee. This was a big scuba diving area.

Great location - quiet and not crowded!
We loved the restaurant next door and easy access to a beach, pool, and Casa Cenote! If it was too windy on the beach, we had other options. On the days we swam in the ocean, we had almost the whole beach to ourselves.

would absolutely stay here again and will!
I loved this little gem on the quiet beach in Tankah bay with a cenote in your back yard! It was so easy to wake up in the morning and walk over to the restaurant to grab a coffee and breakfast before heading out on the adventures of the day. The staff was awesome and always very helpful when we needed anything from a taxi to a recommendation. There are 3 awesome dogs that live on the property and we loved hanging out with them. The owner Gary was great to us as were all of the waiters at the little restaurant. There is a small tienda in case you forget something like suncreen or a toothbrush or even if you have a sudden ice cream craving. I can't wait to go back here and see more of Tulum, one week wasn't enough...it never is! Thanks so much to everyone who made our stay enjoyable and we will return!

Gary and his former wife, Lark Phillips discovered this slice of paradise in the middle of the jungle with a unique Cenote behind the property which connects to an underground cave and bubbles to create an "Ojo," or eye in the middle of the ocean. Formerly a Real Estate Agent and from South Texas, Gary has been running this property solo for the past 27 years, has expanded from what used to be a small restaurant called Casa Cenote, into a hotel which is now well known by locals, and people from all over the world.
