About this property

Unique 300-year-old restored Villa

The property consists of 2 (two) SEPARATE UNITS, estimated to be 300-400 years old ,both of which have been architecturally restored and reinterpreted from the original ruins. Both units can be rented either separately or together and share a spacious patio area with expansive views of both the Aegean Sea and the village.. The property is ideal for large groups who appreciate both space and relative privacy.

The MAIN HOUSE (advertised here) retains the unique architectural style of Santorini while introducing more modern features such as a domed skylight in the living area, sunken bathtub in the recently renovated master bath and the convenience of a modern, fully-equipped kitchen . It has 2 private bedrooms and single, built-in beds in the living areas. It can provide sophisticated yet comfortable accommodation for up to 8 (eight) persons. There are 2 large patio areas both front and back for outdoor dining /entertaining , providing beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, as well as beautiful sea and village views,.

The European Union has designated the village a ‘traditional settlement’ in an effort to preserve its distinct character. You will marvel at the examples of 'cave' dwellings with their unique design and although not so common these days, if you're lucky, you'll get a glimpse of a villager on his donkey or the locals methodically ringing the church bells in the centre of the village.

An Island Retreat: A holiday here affords the visitor a unique opportunity to experience the magic and tranquility of traditional Greek island village life, broken only by the sound of occasional church bells or the bray of a donkey, as it was 50 years ago, prior to the earthquake of 1956. Its serene setting provides both privacy and a retreat from the hustle and bustle of a resort or hotel while being situated a mere 15 minutes by car from the capital of Fira or only 5 minutes from the beautiful, black, sandy beach of Camari, both with a myriad of restaurants, cafes, bars, and clubs to cater for any taste. Whether you're a party animal or just want to get away from it all, this property is ideal for large groups or small -both outdoor and indoor entertaining. Savour Greek Island Life: During your stay, watch the sunrise from the expansive terrace, the moon rise out of the sea in Camari or take a short ride up to the neighboring village of Pyrgos and Santo Winery to see a magnificent sunset, away from the crowds. Alternatively, take a stroll through the village, with its air of mystery, and stop at Canava Argyros or Roussos to sample a glass of locally produced wine from sun-drenched grapes grown in Santorini's volcanic soil. Take a litre of 'Brusco', or 'Vinsanto' directly from the barrel home with you to enjoy before or during dinner. Then again , after a long day at the beach, you may prefer either to enjoy the quiet of a simple, home cooked dinner on the terrace, take in a movie down the road at one of the most beautiful, charming open-air cinemas in the Mediterranean or venture out to experience the some of the exciting night-life the island has to offer. Whatever you choose, your stay here will bring memories to last for a lifetime.

A Unique experience: Santorini, the most mythical and striking of all the Greek islands, is one of the top 10 destinations in the world. It's not surprising that so many travellers are drawn to its dramatic beauty... many even choose to exchange lifetime vows in this most dramatic and romantic of settings

Unlike most rental properties in Santorini, this magnificent 250m2 villa is located in the most unspoilt village on the island- ‘Mesa Gonia.' 'Episkopis Gonia,' as it is also called, dates to the 17th century and is the site of the oldest Byzantine Church on the island, built in the 12th century. The EU has designated the village a ‘traditional settlement’ to preserve its distinct character. While within easy reach of Fira (the capital) and only 5 minutes by car from Camari, (with its beautiful black sandy beach), its serene setting provides both the privacy and tranquility while giving a taste of traditional Greek island village life as it was 50 years ago.

Here you can see the famous 'cave houses' as they were just after the earthquake of 1956 or easily explore the wine roads of the surrounding hills. Local wineries provide delightful wine tasting. and the village now even boasts Santorini's own new micro-brewery, with its Yellow Donkey beer- a 'must try'. See how they brew up their original Red Donkey or Crazy Donkey beer - then take some home with you..There is also a charming open air cinema within walking distance , with live music performances in the peak months.

Posizione ottima!!

Sun and tranquility in Santorini
We have just spent a glorious week in Santorini. We initially looked at the cave house rentals around the Caldera but the prices were high and the accommodation generally compact (small). The island is not that big and with car hire picked up from the airport you have full island access anyway. The villa we rented was on the east side set within vineyard fields in a quiet village with a sea view with gorgeous morning sun one side, together with evening sun on the other side terrace. We drove up to different Caldera bars with sunset terraces most nights so saw the classic sunsets from various perspectives. The owner Lianne was friendly and informative but non intrusive and provided good island information and history. We hired the main house which was spacious with a large lounge with high vaulted ceiling which provided cool temperatures on sunny days. The balance of tranquility with easy access to the main sites made an ideal holiday mix. We would really recommend staying at this beautifully restored Villa. I &L June18

The house of our dreams.
We (4 adults and 6 children, age 21,18,18,17,12,11) arrived in the middle of the night and was picked up by a friend of Lianne. The house was fantastic and all information on the website was correct. It felt like living in a grotto and area is nice and quiet. We recommend to rent a car because it is 20-30 minutes walk to the beach in Kamari and you would need it to buy groceries. We rented an extra car to see the island for some days. Lianne is a fantastic person. She knows all there is to know about the island and more. She takes good care of you and does everything to make your stay on Santorini to fantastic experience. If you like walking tours, there is lots of routes in the area. The outdoor cinema is nearby and is a thing you have to do. The nearest place is Kamari with a black beach and lots of restaurants, shops and all you need for your vacation. If you like wine and winetasting, there is 2 vineyards right down the street. It is Estate Argyros and Canava Roussos. And alsothe local brewing company is down the street. I would also recommend restaurant Metaxi Mas, fantastic food, service and view. The cheesecake is fantastic. I would recommend this villa to anyone who would have a fantastic vacation and we would love to come back.

Wonderfull staying in Santorini
The property is located very close to the beach and to the airport. It has all the basic you can ask for and the owner (Lianne) is fabulous and giving all indications you can need. Our familiy have been 7 people in total and the global staying has been superb among others due to the personality of Lianne. The property has two bathrooms, two separate bedrooms and it can host up to 12 people as it has a lot of beds. The property is in the middle of the island, very well located, very clean and with all the services your would need it The island Santorini is a very nice place for spending a fabulous holidays and of course I would recommend this house to all people they need a perfect value for money staying in Santorini and for sure the experience will be the same as ours: perfect¡¡¡

Unique villa near kamari
We really enjoyed our time at the villa, it is about a 20min walk to Kamari or a 5min scooter ride. It is a very spacious, clean and comfortable place to stay. Lianne was great, she picked us up from the airport and dropped us off and was able to recommend lots of restaurants and things to do. Would definitely recommend.
