About this property

Foxglove Cottage, dog-friendly house by the Peak District with a hot tub

Foxglove Cottage is a large stylish cottage, sleeping 8 - 10 guests, beautifully furnished which is perfect for a family holiday or celebration.

Foxglove Cottage has four double bedroom , three of which can be twin singles beds. A family bathroom, with shower over-bath, and stylish shower room complete the first floor. A door from the first floor gives access to the private hot tub in the garden behind Foxglove Cottage.

The open-plan ground floor has a fully equipped self catering kitchen, large dining table and upholstered chairs. The lounge area has comfy sofas (one is a double sofa bed) and a flat screen TV.

The large ground floor is perfect for family celebrations and group get togethers. The kitchen/lounge/dining room has a contemporary kitchen with the latest appliances, including the important dishwasher and microwave.

There is shared use of the laundry room and games room at Standlow.

The terraced area to the front of the cottage overlooks miles of stunning views over the Derbyshire countryside and is enclosed by a stone wall with a gated exit onto the country lane furnished with wrought iron table chairs and BBQ*.

Traffic is at a minimum as the lane is used mainly by guests of the cottages and farm vehicles from the neighbouring sheep farm.

At the rear of the cottages there is a climbing frame , slide and swings for the younger children, but also a wooden patio and garden furniture for relaxing in. There are two fire pits, which you can use to toast marshmallows.

Further into the garden there is also a flat grassed area for ball games. The garden is open planned but has a wooden fence around it to retain children and also stop the local sheep from visiting!

A unique feature of Standlow is the large games room, for the use of everyone staying. It houses two full size snooker / pool tables, air hockey, table tennis and games for smaller children.

*Please bring charcoal and firelighters if you wish to use the BBQ.

Great accommodation, slightly dog friendly
Beautiful Property with excellent facilities within the cottage. Great parking & access on arrival & departure. Unforunatley, the premises weren’t as Dog Friendly as first thought when booking the holiday. There was nowhere to exercise the dogs off lead, in fact there was no where on the premises dogs were allowed, apart from inside the cottage. The enclosed garden was not enclosed & dogs were not allowed, there were signs everywhere stating NO DOGS ALLOWED. On reading the information pack - we were advised to walk the dogs in the fields behind the garden, unfortunately, they too were signed no dogs due to livestock. We therefore were unable to use the firepit & hot tub as a family as we could not leave the dogs alone in the cottage (they are part of our family too) And to sit outside with them on lead was not an option especially if we were in the hot tub. Carla’s property was lovely & the cottage excellent with ample facilities for humans & the communal games room was well equipped. If you could just enclose (with proper 4-6ft fencing ) the rear gardens so that dogs can exercise safely and securely, so that you are able to enjoy the hot tub & firepit as a family then ‘Dogs would be so much more welcome & it would be genuinely Dog friendly’ Alternatively, in your advertising it should make clear that there is no enclosed areas for dogs at all, & that they should be kept on lead at all times outside of the cottage. Dogs only in the accommodation.
