The lodge is nicely situated directly off the A66 near Brough, with Kirkby Stephen the closest town with a co-op for supplies. Barnard Castle is a bit further. The site is small but peaceful, next to a Beck and has its own wildlife pond further into the woods. Nice child's play area, but would be a bit worried at leaving little ones unattended due to the proximity of the Beck. Lodge was well kept and in good condition, and fairly well equipped but a bit lacking in cooking utensils. Spatulas, working tin opener for example. We ended up buying a set of wofden spatulas. Road noise could be an issue, it didn't disturb us but there are continuous wooshes and rumblings from trucks passing by the site on the A66, all through the night. Its more pronounced if you sit outside on the patio area. Very nicely situated for local attractions of which there are many, we could have easily stayed another week. A few closed for the season as we stayed in October, probably more vibrant in summer. Some stunning views of the pennines as you drive round, and a lovely waterfall close by in kirkby Stephen on the viaduct trail (Nice flat peaceful walk suitable for wheelchairs) and then there's high force waterfall about 30 mins drive to the North with is equally spectacular especially after the heavy rain we had overnight. WiFi was £12 for week, download was satisfactory but could not upload anything so didn't suit my needs and wouldn't bother next time. Certainly we would reconsider the site if we were back in the area.

Lovely lodge in a quiet location surrounded by woodland, lily pond and a stream, which was perfect for getting onto the A66. The lodge had lots of facilities such as dishwasher and a large fridge freezer. The park was smaller than expected, which was a nice surprise and made it more tranquil. Would definitely recommend it and hope to visit again.
