Location: -the cottage's location is in a very quiet and peaceful countryside. Horses and rabbits are a great sight from the garden and the green grass gives you that calm feel of being away from the busy bustle of the city life. Its only a few minutes drive to Dovedale & Ilam. Ashbourne where there is Sainsbury's and Aldi are handy for a self catering holiday. The Cottage: -the cottage (Pine Cottage) was big enough for our group-there were 11 of us. -dining room was big enough for us to enjoy dinner and kitchen has a big electric oven/cooker. Some cutleries and utensils were slightly dirty which made the cupboard smelt damp. It wasnt a problem though as we cleaned them all up anyway before using. Because of the adjacent barn (i guess), there were a number of flies which was not very hygienic when you try to prepare food and serving them on the table. You constantly have to shoo them away. - the sizes of the rooms and bathrooms are good but found dusts to some furnitures. Duvet covers and curtains were clean. Amenities: -we were greeted with an outdoor Hot Tub Bubble Jacuzzi to our groups delight! It comes with an extra cost but who cares! It was a treat to use it with the beautiful green garden view and wine in the evening after a day in the mountains. -the WIFI was very bad and there was no network coverage in the area. To some, this may be a downside for those who cant live without internet. Otherwise for those who want to be temporarily cut off from the web and outside life then the only link to the outside world is the Television and counting the cars passing by whilst your enjoying a soak in the garden in a hot bubble tub Places recommended: Dovedale Walk/Hike - the walk/hike can take up to 3 hours and the scenery was beautiful! You can prepare to dip in the rivers but make sure to bring an appropriate footwear to dip in as the river bed has stones and pebbles. Ilam Park -you can pass by this place on your way to Dovedale but i recommend to allocate a different day for this place. The history of the house is interesting and the garden grounds is a perfect place to have a walk around & a picnic esp for the children. Matlock -visit the Heights of Abraham with a cave in the bottom of the hill Chatswoth House -has magnificent grounds to explore outdoor and indoor. The Host -Linda was warm and welcoming. She has provided a complementary milk on our arrival and ensured to get back to us when we make a request (ie. extension cord, repair of the hot tub as we wanted to use it). Everyone had such an amazing time and really didn't want to come home, owners were lovely and very accommodating. Only downfall was some of the pots and pans needing re washing before use. But this did not bother us. Thank you so much for having us, we will be back x
