The cottage is ideal for seeing all the English Riviera has to offer, the South West is home to some of England’s most beautiful countryside, and Manor Farm in Daccombe makes an ideal base for exploring. There is something for everyone with outstanding natural coastlines, rugged wild Dartmoor, extensive choice of unique attractions in the country and of course shopping. Just up the road from Manor Farm are ski slopes which are open all year. Torquay offers a wide range of shops and restaurants, and the harbour and marina has historic interest and quayside attractions. Newton Abbot is only a 10-minute drive away and offers traditional markets and shopping. Newton Abbot Racecourse is not only for race enthusiasts, but there are also many events held here. Paignton offers all the fun of a typical English seaside resort with wonderful sandy beaches and a pier, while Brixham with its working fishing port is picturesque and well worth a visit. Dartmoor with its rugged beauty to be enjoyed by outdoor enthusiasts and also for outings and picnics. Other attractions in the area include the model village at Babbacombe ’miniature landscaping at its best’, with over 450 models to enjoy for all the family, and Paignton Zoo, one of the best zoos and environmental parks in the country.
Living Coasts, a fantastic journey around the coastlines of the world next to Torquay Harbour, featured on TV, and which has reconstructed beaches, cliff-faces and an estuary. Living Coasts has fascinating coastal animals from penguins to seals, puffins to sea ducks. Kent’s Cavern, a National Heritage pre-historic site, where cavemen once lived is fascinating, and you can travel back to the world of cavemen. Picturesque thatched Cockington village in Torquay, has a working forge, craft centre and Norman church, while Berry Head Old Fortess has dramatic open cliffs overlooking Torbay, and enjoys a nature reserve and a beauty spot. Watcombe beach is the nearest beach which is 2 miles, and Oddicombe Beach, with its sand and shingle beach, has moderately easy access and enjoys a cliff lift to take the strain. Beach 2 miles.
