In 1432 Pope Eugene IV gave to the Olivetani Monks, the Benedictine Abbey of Tino Island, which had been abandoned. On the same occasion the Olivetani Monks were assigned "heremitorium cum eius ecclesia sine cura", (Hermitage with its assembly without care), which was in the territory of Portovenere and named after the Virgin of Grace.
