Feedback for Shilsbury Retreat Cottage
The owners are friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The condition of the building inside looks tired. We both could not get comfortable on the furniture as both sofas sink in the middle. There was no aspects of luxury like soft furnishings. There was a smell in the kitchen cupboards and some of the crockery was chipped also broken kitchen cupboard handles. It was very basic. There was no freezer so unable to pack yourself a lunch and keep it cold in the hot weather. The pillows on the beds were flat and very used. It was difficult to find. The directions were not helpful. I would not recommend or stay again.

Our 3rd stay at Shilbury Retreat
Having stayed here in 2015 and 2016, we would have returned sooner had it not been for the Covid lockdowns. The cottage is nicely out of the way of the hustle and bustle of daily life. The track from the road is passable to most cars but, I would not risk a lowered car or one with a low body kit. The owners are friendly and welcoming. The cottage is very comfortable for a couple and dog friendly. There are long walks available on the local tracks with some nice views along the way. There are golf courses nearby if you like that sort of thing. A well stocked local shop and post office is just up the lanes onto the road at Goonhavern. The cottage is well placed to explore Cornwall, being not too far from the main A and B roads. Accessibility wise, there are three small steps from the parking area to the cottage garden and one small step into the cottage. There is a wet room shower with WC and basin. I am ambulant disabled and had no difficulties with using the cottage facilities at all. We will return again one day.
