Chalet Cathay is a thoroughly modern chalet with many premium features as standard, offering a wonderfully functional, family friendly and, above all, relaxing stay. The chalet benefits from stunning mountain views both from the spacious double-height lounge & dining area, sun terrace, mezzanine and 4 of the bedrooms.

There are 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (4 showers & 1 bath / shower), a self-contained mezzanine annexe with sofabed, cable TV and PS2 console; iPod™ docks & alarm clocks in bedrooms/ lounges, free high-speed Wi-Fi internet throughout, 40inch HDTV, Cable & Blu-ray dvd player.

The living room is comfortably furnished with leather sofas, pure wool rug and a feature fireplace.

Fully equipped kitchen suitable for large parties or families. Eco-friendly geothermal underfloor heating ensures the chalet is warm throughout the year and boot room with boot dryer (15 pairs).

Self catering (with option of 3 course dinner delivered from a local restaurant) as well as airport transfer rates negotiated for our guests.


Accessibility:

Our chalet is approached directly from the main road that runs past the télécabine offering easy access by foot and car that leads to the front door. There is ample space on the private drive to park multiple cars. There's a bus stop in the adjacent public car park that's at the top of our drive. It's just 1 stop from there taking about a minute on the bus to get to the télécabine in La Tzoumaz.

Most importantly, it's within 5 minutes walk (approx 300 m) of the télécabine and an easy walk to the village.

For those looking further afield, La Tzoumaz is a perfect base for exploring in and around Switzerland, Verbier and the 4 Vallees.

Sion, the capital of the Valais and Martigny, an old Roman town both of which has historic interest are less than 20 km away on the motorway. For a day trip, Chamonix in France is just under 60 km away.

Very nice chalet

We had a fantastic stay at this beautifully designed chalet. It is incredibly well - equipped, with everything from baby utensils to a cake tin! The living room is a stunning and relaxing space, perfect for unwinding. Thoughtful details throughout made our stay truly comfortable. Highly recommended!

Perfect location - great chalet

Awesome. Chalet ist located next to the bus station, perfectly equipped kitchen and extremely nice for a group of eight. Upper level provides an additional bed (open gallery) and bathroom. 4x, chains etc. recommended in winter as pathway down to the chalet is short but steep.

A fantastic family holiday

We had a truly fantastic couple of weeks at Chalet Cathay. The chalet itself is in a beautiful, peaceful setting and has everything you could wish for and more. The Alps really is a fantastic place to visit in the Summer and Chalet Cathay is perfectly located to explore, either by jumping on the cable car down the road or a drive further afield. The mountain views are simply stunning but there is so much more ... cable cars, lakes, dams, wild flowers, snowball fights, ice tunnels, thermal baths, Swiss National Day fireworks, hiking, climbing, waterfalls, gorges, glaciers, fondue, apricot tart, chocolate ..... A wonderful holiday in a lovely chalet.

Wonderful winter holiday stay

We spent a week in the Cathay chalet and it was a wonderful experience from A to Z. The detailed web-description made our pre-trip planning very easy, especially as we were a large group (13 people including kids and a dog). The communication prior to the trip was super helpful as well. The house and the amenities were all as (if not better) than described. Everything was spotless. The kitchen is well equipped, and the views were spectacular (not just from the living room). The house was warm and very comfortable. The ski-lift is in 10/12 min walking distance and the bus to the ski station was just in front of the house. We would definitely stay there again!!

Fantastic chalet ! very nice ski area

The chalet is very beautiful, it is extremely well equipped, up to modern fondu set. The living room is very big with a nice open fireplace. Also the room to place skis with booth warming equipment is very user friendly. All rooms are very clean and appear new. The location of the chalet is 2 min walk from a ski buss and 15 min walk to village with restaurants and supermarket. With the ski bus it is only 5 min drive to ski lift. All in all it was a perfect stay in our top three of chalets we stayed in during the last 20 years. Group of 8, Glen

Full of style, character and warmth

We were in Chalet Cathay two weeks ago just before Easter, and still the children talk about their holiday there every day. When they went back to school this morning our son said he wished he was going to ski school in Switzerland instead! That says it all really; a fantastic and memorable time was had by all! It was great to be within easy gondola ride of the ski mecca Verbier, but we also really appreciated returning at the end of the day to the quiet and peace of La Tzoumaz. Having said that, this small family resort has everything you need, in terms of télécabine, supermarket, cafés, restaurants and tourist office. After exhilarating days out in the open air, we spent enjoyable evenings in the welcoming atmosphere of Chalet Cathay, unwinding over dinner and a glass of wine. Oh, and what spectacular views when you wake in the morning from this home nestled into the side of the mountain. We shall try to hold on to these, and what are some very happy memories, for as long as possible as we slip back into our usual daily work-school routine! Thank you so much to the owners Ying and Wong for welcoming us into their special family home, full of style, character and warmth! PS. Our eldest son (age 11) had this to say: Chalet Cathay is one of the best places on Earth for me besides my own house!

Beautiful well located chalet with all the extras

We had a great stay here with two other families just after New Year. The chalet itself is beautiful and spacious with lots of space for kids to run around in, and the views are amazing. We especially appreciated the little amenities like huge dining table, well furnished kitchen, heating flooring, well kitted out boot room, heated boot racks and ski racks, and choice of UK power extensions. The beds were also memorably cozy and comfy and the bathrooms especially beautiful and warm. Our son's favourite was the "den" area upstairs complete with rocking lounger, game console. TV and comfy sofa. Everything was extremely good standard and very well maintained by any standard. The location is also great - we enjoyed being so close to the centre of town and the ski gondola/lift, so that we were able to easily walk there or, with lots of gear, go just one stop on the free ski bus from the stop just at the top of the driveway. the town itself is small but charming with everything you could want - children's playground, ski school, creche, ski rental and shopping, restaurants, supermarket, etc. We also loved the little crepe shop and restaurant at the top of the mountain/gondola ride - great for a lovely snack and warm drink while looking out over an amazing vista of mountain - great views of Verbier and the beautiful mountains around. We are all beginner skiers and were really pleased with both the kids and adult lessons we got - used two different ski schools (the one recommended by the owner's website and the one at the mountain pass entrance) and we had excellent experiences in both cases - really friendly, patient, fun individuals who gave us great lessons at very short notice and to meet our scheduiing needs. Which is another great thing about the area - very friendly in general, and wonderfully uncrowded. Was great to be able to practice skiing on such beautiful runs with so few other people! The "nursery slope" is also great for kids/practicing - complete with "magic carpet" to get up the hill and a view which is quite amazing itself. We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a practical family oriented ski holiday in a beautiful location and a lovely accommodation without the crowds.

Fabulous Chalet, Terrific Skiing, Hidden Gem

If you’re reading this and wondering whether to book, do so - you won’t be disappointed! Chalet Cathay is beautiful! It's easily accessed from the main road just a couple of hundred metres from the télécabine. Conveniently, there are lockers in the télécabine, which are good value and come in various sizes. Our kids are keen swimmers and were delighted also to find a good swimming pool at the télécabine. The chalet's first floor is a large open plan kitchen/dining/living area. It has stunning views down the valley, with a wrap-around balcony that's well protected by the deep overhang of the roof. The ground floor bedrooms below all have comfortable beds with good-sized storage. Unlike a lot of other ski accommodation you have plenty of room around the beds to get dressed. My wife and I slept upstairs in the mezzanine that's open to the ground floor. We loved waking up to the view through floor to ceiling windows. It may not suit those who go to bed early but we were so comfy that even when someone pottered about downstairs we weren’t disturbed by them. The leather sofas are of the sink-into-and-snooze variety and the dining table readily accommodates large parties. The kitchen has EVERYTHING you might need. There are at least three ways of making coffee! The cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils are plentiful and of high quality. And we made a lovely cake for our son’s 10th birthday. Toasty dry boots off the boot heater in the morning are so much nicer than cold wet ones and having the cloakroom area to suit up and store ski jackets etc works well. We found our kit that had been hung up in the cloakroom was always dry in the morning (under-floor heating!) Now the skiing. This is the kind of place you feel you don’t really want to tell too many people about - the secret might get out and spoil it. It's soooo quiet. We had blue sky days after a big dump of snow when we managed to ski entire runs without seeing ANYONE else. All in all a terrific holiday. We hope to be back soon!'

Séjour en famille accompagnée de 2 chiens, chalet adapté à l’hébergement d’une famille nombreuse, indépendance garantie pour chacun, grande pièce conviviale pour partager les moments collectif. Had a very nice time, chalet was nice size for a lot of people, and kitchen very well equipped. Good beds, super modern bathrooms and showers, any problems we're quickly resolved. Checkin and checkout not laborious. Bus stop really close. All in all very nice week 😊

Grosszügiges Chalet im "American Style"

Ruhig gelegenes, grosszügiges Chalet im "American Style". Imposanter Wohnraum mit vielen Sitzmöglichkeiten, grossem Esstisch und Cheminée. Gut eingerichtete Küche. Zweckmässig eingerichtete Schlafzimmer und sehr schöne Bäder. Am besten hat uns die umgehende Terrasse mit Blick auf die Berge und ins Rhonetal gefallen. Etwas ungewohnt: Strom muss extra bezahlt werden.

It's everything it promises

Chalet Cathay is well equipped, has tasteful interiors as well as beautiful surroundings… we - two families, 4 adults, 5 kids and 2 dogs - all enjoyed it! And we hardly ever had so organised, well meaning and responsive owners and agents!

Ein wunderbares Chalet fünf Fussminuten von der Télécabine entfernt, sozusagen nahe bei... aber weit genug entfernt, ideal gelegen. Alternativ eine Station mit dem Skibuss fur Spätausgrschlafene. Ski Gebiet sehr gut, mit Anschluss an Verbier und die 4 Vallees. Voller Chalet Charme. Der Sommer würde uns hier auch interessieren.

Excellent chalet, host and location

We had a great time over New Year's week at Chalet Cathay. The Chalet is perfectly located close to the lifts and the centre of La Tzoumaz and the layout is perfect for two families with a large enjoyable living area. The hosts are very nice and reactive with property managamenet avaialble duribg our stay and very nice too. A perfectly fitted and enjoyable accommodation ! Many thanks to all.
