About this property

Yacht Club Sunset on the Water!

TEMPORARY RENTAL Available for 2 to 5 months (demolishing the home in the fall)

Located in the Yacht Club - Cape Coral's most desireable area and one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in SW Florida.

This modest home was severely damaged by Ian. While it has been partially restored, it is definitely NOT a luxury rental. I'm rebuilding in 2024 so have chosen not to replace many cosmetic features of the house, but it's fully functional, clean and safe.
Aesthetically it's not perfect, and is priced accordingly (approximately 50% less than other homes in the Yacht Club area) . There are some minor roof leaks, no baseboards, and there are 2 drawers missing from the main bathroom cabinet, and one door missing from the master bath. The furniture and cabinets are not new, but the beds, linens and many of the towels are. In October of 2023 the A/C unit, range, washer, dryer and water heater were replaced. I also added a hot tub and a fire pit for the patio.

New drywall has been installed, painting is complete. The roof has been temporarily repaired, and the facia on the eves on the back of the house is still as Ian left it.

The home, located on the Canal with direct access to the Gulf (no bridges), is 3 blocks away from the Cape Coral Beach, Boat House Restaurant, Yacht Club Community Park. The Yacht Club pool was still closed (as of 3/1/24). Fortunately, you can still enjoy peaceful views of the water and sunset from the west-facing back patio, dock and back yard beach!

The kitchen was updated in 2018 with a new sink, dishwasher and garbage disposal. The master suite includes a King bed, walk-in closet, large shower, double sinks, and a private back yard entrance. The house has a queen in the corner room and a twin in the front room. There is also a futon couch in the west patio room that folds out into a full bed.

Does not include use of garage or boat lift, but plenty of space to moor a boat on sea wall

Excellent Location

We booked this property last minute for a long stay and Jim was wonderful in accommodating our group. The repairs from the hurricane are almost done. The home is in a great location. The neighborhood and being waterfront made this home a wonderful choice for our stay.

Terrible Experience

We've experienced Vrbo and other rentals all over the country, this was certainly the worst. The house needs total renovation due to age and hurricane damage but there isn't much of that happening, probably because the owner doesn't even live in state. The list of things in disrepair and a state of uncleanliness is too long to write.... furniture, blankets, kitchen utensils, sinks that don't drain... We wanted to wash some dishes BEFORE we could cook some food but there was no dish soap or other basic items that you find in virtually any other rental. The host told us there would be a handyman coming to put face plates over the electrical outlets before we arrived and gone by the time we got settled. He was there until 8pm while we were eating dinner. As we tried to message with our host regarding our concerns, he was dismissive at first and then increasingly rude saying we were being unreasonable. The final straw was waking up at 6am to a loud banging sound in the living room. Turns out there was a large animal (the host thought it was probably a raccoon) in the walls between the garage and the living room. The host treated us like we were overreacting when we said we wanted a refund so we could find a different place. He wanted us to wait till he could find someone to send over and solve the problem. In reality, this place shouldn't even be listed for rental.

Great home and location

Our host was extremely candid about the state of the residence due to hurricane Ian. But he had replaced all appliances, and beds for the three bedrooms. The furnishings were bare but adequate. Our host responded the three times I got in touch with him including ordering beach chairs on Amazon. The residential area was very nice sitting on a canal which I loved. Also it is near the Boat House Tiki Bar which is alive and fun and friendly and is a nice addition. I highly recommend it.

Post Hurricane

I arrived early and the place was not ready.Jim was there and was eagerly attending to things. Some hurricane damage was still evident but Jim said it was being fixed. Location was exemplary.

Not what I expected

Several sheets and pillowcases were stained at the onset plus a cockroach problem for which the owner sent 2 exterminators but never resolved. There is no shady area in the back during the day and the garage and sides of yard have junk laying around. The kitchen needs attention too - some dirty drawers and no kitchen towels. I was disappointed.

So thankful!

The owner was so easy to work with! Our group booked a VERY last minute reservation with the owner because of some unfortunate circumstances and Jim was very easy to communicate with and accommodated us immediately. We went into the home knowing he was doing some ground work around the property during our stay. It was easy to see that Jim was very invested to the property and was working to build a paradise in the backyard. The home itself was comfortable. A few small areas needed improvements, like a few light switches and covers to wall outlets, etc. But we were in a very nice neighborhood and felt very safe where we were at. Any questions we had - Jim responded to my texts immediately. The beach was just a short walk down the street! Beautiful area to jog around also. Thanks for taking us in Jim!

3BR Ranch with fenced-in yard

The house's location was within walking distance to the beach and nearby restaurants. The home had a fenced-in yard that was necessary for our dog so he could roam freely. The home had the basic necessities, but we did have quite the problem with the fridge not working properly. The owner refunded some of the money from the food we had to throw away. While the home was sufficient and met our basic needs while we looked for our own home to move into, the price was exorbitant for what it offered. I'll do better research next time I choose a VRBO home.

Cape Coral bungalow

The Driftwood house is in a great location with easy access to the all points leading to ball parks, the ocean and other points of interest. While it was clean it and had enough basics for a party of 4.

Great location but needs a few things....

The property's location is what made it! The neighborhood was super safe with sidewalks and bike lanes making for great walking. The beach was a five minute walk away, though we would hop in our rental and drive an hour and ten minutes to Sanibel. The house had a great back yard, fenced in, we originally were going to bring our two dogs, but decided not to at the last minute- though if we had, they would have been happy hanging out in the grass. So, the house needs a few things- in the past, when my husband I have rented other places, there have always been the basics. We ended up purchasing a few basics, that in other VRBO's have been provided. Coffee filters, wine opener, can opener, extra coffee mugs, dish towels, hand soap for the bathroom, plastic baggies, books for reading on the beach, a $40 beach chair, a $20 umbrella, a beach mat, and a cooler, all of which we left behind. Other items we did not purchase but would have been great were bath mats (there were none), more towels, maybe even some beach towels, reading lamps on the nightstand, a cookie sheet (we attempted to make nachos and there was nothing to cook them on), aluminum foil, saran wrap, dishwasher soap. Two days before we left, the coffee maker started beeping and stopped working- so maybe on upgrade with that as well. The final suggestion would be to create a notebook with what to do regarding trash, recycling, closest grocery store, places to eat, what's needed for check out, etc. Overall, the place has a lot of potential, it just needs some TLC.
