About this property

Sunkissed: Walk to Beach, Ocean Views, Firepit + Privacy Fence, Gardens

Sunkissed sits high on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean in the secluded hamlet of Pacific Beach, just a 6-min walk or 70-sec drive to the sand. Comfortably apportioned for larger groups or for couples who enjoy more space, this home is ideal for family gatherings. Work remotely on extended stays with a dedicated desk, monitor, and ethernet port providing gig speed internet.

A main floor primary bedroom sports a firm king mattress, expansive drawer space, and walk-in closet so that you can spread out during your stay. Linens are high thread-count cotton for comfort and durability. A 40" Smart TV provides access to cable and popular streaming apps. For guests travelling with infants, there is a changing table, pack-n-play, and baby bath for added convenience. This bedroom opens onto the privacy-fenced back yard and edible garden. When in-season, help yourself to some of the cherries, nectarines, apples, and berries. Dogs and children alike will find plenty of space to play between trips to the beach. An infrared grill allows for summer cookouts while a propane-fueled stone fire pit helps warm those chilly coastal evenings through shimmering copper fire-glass.

The main floor bathroom has a full tub/shower combo with glass door, providing a bright, modern setting while the privacy-screened window opens the room without compromising modesty. Plush white towels, coupled with dual hand showers, help to create a spa-like setting. Just outside in the hallway is a washer and steam dryer stocked with plenty of laundry supplies to last throughout your stay.

The kitchen has place settings for 8, wine and cocktail glasses, a tea kettle, and a wide assortment of cooking utensils and bakeware. A durable 11-piece stainless steel cookware set ensures a pristine, professional cooking experience. Appliances include a hand mixer, blender, coffee maker, espresso maker, coffee grinder, and toaster. A dishwasher makes clean-up a snap. We stock the kitchen/pantry with staples, including 20 common spices, flour, sugar, coffee beans, vegetable and olive oil, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, vanilla extract, saran wrap, and tin foil. Should you need to make a last minute grocery run, You and I Market in downtown Pacific Beach and the Fresh Foods Market in neighboring Seabrook are local options.

The dining room table seats 6 comfortably with additional seating for 3 at the breakfast bar. A table-level highchair is available for our youngest guests. Partially hidden by the bar stools is a small cabinet which houses board games and assorted reading materials.

A 60" Smart TV graces the corner of the living room, again with access to cable and streaming apps. An electric fireplace illuminates a quartzite facade and travertine mantle, not only providing ambiance but also helping keep the winter chill at bay. Seating options include a couch, loveseat, and chaise with ample room to gather with family and friends.

Four large windows look out onto the expansive lower deck, which boasts a bistro set perfect for a morning latte surrounded by hanging flower baskets. Deck containers sport a series of fresh herbs, including thyme, mint, oregano, parsley, chives, and rosemary. Just off the deck, lavender and jasmine provide summer perfume while two dwarf apple trees and creeping thyme complete the edible garden.

Back inside, ascending the stairs you will encounter an armoire with spare linens. To the right is the second bedroom, with a queen soft memory foam mattress, ample drawer space, an armoire for hanging clothes, and a desk with computer monitor where you can squeeze in a last-minute work project while gazing out at the ocean. A 32" Smart TV again provides access to cable and streaming content. This bedroom opens onto the upper deck, with sectional seating for 6. A deck box allows for storage of personal items, such as a good book and blanket. Our home is located one block in on the bluff, with interrupted ocean views spanning approximately 160 degrees.

The second full bath is located off this bedroom, again with tub/shower combo, dual hand showers, and glass shower door. Plush towels and plenty of drawer and cabinet space further accommodate your grooming regimen.

Back across the hallway is the third bedroom with a queen medium-firm pillowtop mattress, as well as a Euro Lounger which folds down into a double bed. An armoire and nightstand provide storage space, a 32" Smart TV provides access to cable and streaming, and a balcony offers views of the surrounding neighborhood, forest, and rising sun.

"Sunkissed" is obviously a play on the color of the home, but it perfectly describes a Pacific Northwest summer -- including here on the coast. There is another shade named for the region: Grays Harbor. A deep, sulky blue-grey, it mirrors the color of the Pacific during our fierce late autumn storms. Whether your plans include strolling down the peaceful summer shoreline or watching violent winter waves redefine the coastline, we welcome you into our home to share in the beauty of the Washington Coast.

Key Notes:
-- Dog friendly (max 2, any size).

-- Beach is a 6-min walk or 70 second drive down the bluff from our front door. Access is via Analyde Gap, where you may conveniently park right on the sand.

-- Centrally-located on the Washington Coast:
1.5 mi to Seabrook
29 miles to Lake Quinault/Olympic Nat'l Park
Olympic Rainforests: Quinault 29 mi; Queets 50 mi; Hoh 99 mi.

-- Dedicated workspace with ethernet port providing gig speed internet -- fastest speeds available on the Coast! WiFi throughout the home.

-- Check-out is a snap: close the blinds, turn off the lights, lock the door, and have safe travels back home. You're on vacation - leave the clean up to us!

-- Unlike the majority of the surrounding vacation rentals, this home is thoroughly cleaned following each stay. The property is landscaped and well-maintained, providing multiple outdoor living spaces in a coastal cottage setting. Interior and exterior maintenance is continual to keep the property fresh and inviting. If these factors matter to you, it would be hard to find a better-maintained property in the North Beach.

-- As with any business or hotel, this home is equipped with exterior security cameras covering all outdoor areas. The interior is outfitted with vacation rental industry-approved decibel measuring devices (Minut Sensors: no audio, no video) as well as devices which detect cigarette smoke. These tools improve the experience for the vast majority of our guests by maintaining good neighbor relations and keeping the home smoke-free: happy neighbors = happy guests = great vacations.

-- Fully licensed through the State and permitted through the County.

-- Pacific Beach is an isolated village with a population just over 200. Coupled with the adjacent upscale development of Seabrook, there are a scattering of diverse restaurants, art galleries, and sports rentals catering to a wide array of tastes and budgets. The expansive, undeveloped beaches are the main draw, however, as well as proximity to the southwestern rainforests and coastlines of Olympic Nat'l Park.

Birthday Escape
House was clean and well decorated. Here is our list of suggestions: The toaster needs replacing! Does not popup when complete. Have to unplug and replug each use - a fire hazard. Screen door to back yard has tear in it. Awkward to get to backyard thru a bedroom. Couch upstairs is torn. Suggest a stair guard (gate) to avoid falls down the stairs. Also a carpet a runner down middle of stairs would not only help muffle step noice , but would make stairs safer. We could not use grill as planned as it need some overhead cover avoiding rain. Kitchen could use some sponges to clean with. Internet was very, very slow! You advertised great speed and cable, found neither. Otherwise, we had a good family birthday celebration!

Fabulous family getaway
We enjoyed our stay at Pacific Beach tremendously thanks to the incredible Sunkissed house. Every little thing was considered in making the house feel like a home away from home. Very responsive and friendly host who takes considerable care to make guests feel welcome (and supported if needs arise). Thank you!

We are a family-owned company prioritizing quality over quantity. We own a handful of properties on Washington's Olympic peninsula, each of which we personally renovated and meticulously maintain to provide a quality guest experience at competitive pricing. Rather than pursuing quick turnovers and volume booking to drive profits, as do our corporate competitors, we focus on refreshing our properties following each reservation. This encourages longer stays and satisfied guests who return season after season. All while providing an impressive list of amenities when our competition offers just the bare minimum to drive bookings.

Consistent with our focus on value, our pricing is inclusive -- because shouldn't a vacation rental come with enough toiletries to last the entire reservation and a sufficiently diverse array of cooking staples to prevent unanticipated grocery runs? And with us the cleaning is included. After all, our guests are on vacation and their comfort is our top priority.

Why they chose this property

Sunkissed is nestled in the well-kept Pacific Beach neighborhood of Highland Heights, central to all the attractions of the North Beach. We're proud to share it with those seeking a relaxing place to stay while exploring Olympic NP and the Washington coast.

Pacific Beach hosts several seasonal events, including Chocolate on the Beach in February, Sand Castle contests, and the Kelpers Day Parade and Shakerat (logger) Rendevous in September. Absent a festival, it's usually a great day to fly a kite!

Pacific Beach has a storied history. Prior to the establishment of the reservation in 1855, the Quinault Nation sustained itself hunting from ocean-going canoes along this coastline. By the early 1900's, urban tourists flocked to the region via a newly finished rail terminus. The 1906 Pacific Beach Hotel became a honeymooner's paradise. The area thrived on tourism and canning razor clams until World War II, when the Pacific Beach Hotel was purchased by the Navy as an anti-aircraft training center. Soon thereafter, the Air Force established a radar site to close several radar gaps along the Washington Coast which could have allowed hostile aircraft access to sites in the interior. This radar site was temporary, and in 1951 the military attempted to sell the site back to Pacific Beach; however, since the town is unincorporated, the sale could not be effected. In 1958, the Navy established a secret Sound Surveillance System designed to track Soviet submarine movements under the guise of oceanographic research. The town was intentionally removed from maps, and the remaining tourism dried up. Technological changes made the station obsolete in the 1980's, and in 1987 the base was converted to a Naval Resort and Conference center. Since then, tourism has slowly trickled back to a region dubbed by the New York Times as "The Coast that Defies Big Dreams." [Thank you to Seabrook, Museum of the North Beach, and NavyLifePNW for providing historical context).

What makes this property unique

Nineteen miles to the northeast lies the southwesternmost boundary of the Olympic National Forest, established by the Grover Cleveland Administration in 1897. The core of the National Forest became Olympic National Park under the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration in 1938 and lies 29 miles northeast at Lake Quinault. Olympic National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site secondary to its dramatic beauty and biodiversity. The Olympic peninsula is biologically isolated from the rest of the continent and survived glaciation during the last ice age; consequently, it harbors many species of plants and animals which exist nowhere else on Earth. The park spans a stunning array of ecosystems, from glaciated peaks to alpine meadows, to old-growth forest. Best known are the temperate rain forests of the ocean-facing river valleys which channel moisture off the coast and drench the forest floor. Olympic also spans 62 miles of wild coastline -- the longest stretch of undeveloped coastline in the lower 48. This coastline not only allows visitors to experience the stark beauty of native coastline unchanged by the hand of man, but also, in places, to contemplate our impact on the planet when stretches of wild coastline are littered with the detritus of a polluted ocean. Olympic National Park is vast -- nearly 1 million acres -- and mostly to be experienced on foot. Few roads penetrate the park and none cross it. To experience the park, visitors need to stay in various coastal towns encircling the park, and Pacific Beach is a great location for exploring the southwest flank of the park, the three largest rain forests (Quinault, Queets, and Hoh, with its Hall of Mosses), and the wilderness coastline.
