About Richard Wathen
We are long time DC residents and have owned rental property in Rehoboth for many years. We owned a condo originally but have always been looking for a house to buy for both rental and our own use. We've rented beach houses ourselves and have a lot of experience in what makes for a practical, pleasant house.

Why Richard Wathen chose South Rehoboth
We bought this house in 2015 and made many improvements to both update it to a more open, modern floor plan and add new amenities. Its a traditional house (1940) but is big and well situated on the lot. The pictures have all been updated. We liked the combination of the original elements - screen porches, front porch - with how it could be updated while opening up the kitchen and dining area and access from the kitchen right to the pool and deck areas. We added an extra bathroom, renovated of all the other bathrooms, kitchen and outdoor deck areas. The air conditioning and water heaters we're completely redesigned and modernized.
What makes this House unique
We think this house brings together a lot of great attributes. We looked for a long time before finding this combination. Location: Its 2/12 blocks from the beach and boardwalk, right down Philadelphia to Funland. Its only a block from Rehoboth Avenue - three minutes to Starbucks in the morning and the new Dogfish Brewing location - but is still a remarkably quiet residential street. Pool: There are a limited number of Rehoboth houses with pools - and ours is a nice size with still a lot of deck and yard space. Pets: We allow a dog, because we know this is a family house that are likely to have a dog. We've got professional indoor cleaners to keep it spotless. We understand that a week of boarding is tough on the dog and expensive. Parking and Accessibility: Lots of parking in the driveway which hopefully facilitates easy in and out. In this location, its possible to never need a car, but you have to get there. We've tried to make the interior fun and interesting - its a beach house and should reflect that. We updated the walls with pine shiplap and installed all new lighting fixtures. Its in the heart of Rehoboth, but it has everything you need if you want to stay on the property for your entire stay except for walking to the beach.
