About the host
Hosted by Nicole Catlin
We are Brian and Nicole. Married for almost 40 years with 2 grown children, we are empty nesters. We love teaming up to update older spaces by renovating, decorating. Nicole is the dreamer and designer and Brian makes the magic happen in transforming these spaces. Previously 5 star short-term rental hosts of our former family cottage and now with more time on our hands, we are excited to be getting back into hosting once again! We spent the Covid years renovating 4 short term rentals and are thrilled to start hosting again.
Why they chose this property
We moved to Messines in 2018 and have nick named it the Quebec Muskoka's. This region is an undiscovered gem with so much to offer and do! Mountains for skiing and hiking, lakes for water fun and so much more! We live on majestic Blue Sea Lake steps from the paved Trans Canada Trail which is open to pedestrians and cyclists in the summer months transforming into part of the Quebec Snowmobile trail in the winter. We are thrilled to offer others the opportunity to explore this region and to take in what nature has to offer.
What makes this property unique
This property has a history as a summer vacation spot on the shores of Blue Sea Lake as the Auberge des Pins. Many home and cottage owners in this area remember it as a popular summer retreat for families and friends a generation ago. With a sandy lake bottom, we have a small beach that our guests can use, it has a view of Mont Morrissette where there is a lookout tower. This lake is one of the largest and clearest lakes in Quebec.
The most incredible thing for us are the breathtaking sunsets that can be seen from the beach. It is a tradition amongst cottagers in our area to celebrate the sunset with a 'Sundowner' cocktail as the sun recedes from the sky in behind the mountain and leaving behind a spectacular array of golden rays in the sky.
