Our family enjoyed staying at the shearers' quarters for a few days. We were made welcome by Bridget on arrival, the house was clean, and the beds were made up and very comfortable. With an Autumn nip in the air, it was great to have a fire, heaters and hot water bottles on hand and the kids' enjoyed foraging for fir cones. The quarters was well equipped and we enjoyed rambling across the fields and exploring the beautiful garden on the property. There were a few cows for the kids' to look at while we were there. Napier and surrounds were about 30-40mins drive away so come prepared to drive a bit, but that is also the beauty of being out in the country.
It's worth noting that two of the three bedrooms are self-contained with no internal access to the main living quarter - so you have to nip outside to get to the main building or go to the bathroom (starlit walk at night!). Also, the nearest shop is at least 60 min round trip so come prepared with your food etc. There is no freezer for those on a long stay.
Overall, a relaxing trip with all the fresh air we could wish for! :)
