Damage Deposit Policy
Summary
At the time of booking, hosts may request a refundable damage deposit, or that guests purchase property damage protection.
What’s allowed
We allow hosts to request one of the following:
- A payment card on file
- An upfront refundable damage deposit. Please note: This can only be collected directly by the host if it is clearly detailed in the property listing
- Property damage protection
This is intended to cover the costs of any damage to the home by the guest, someone the guest invites, or a pet. These may include:
- Costs for broken or damaged items, such as furniture or appliances
- Additional cleaning costs
What’s not allowed
The damage deposit cannot be used to recoup optional services or fees (such as bike rentals or premium Wi-Fi), excess usage of utilities, or returning lost items belonging to guests. In these cases, hosts should use an additional payment request (Find more information here).
