Comfortable modern cottage in a sheltered garden with its own streamfront. In a quiet suburban setting, 5-10 minutes walk to Otaki Beach, our bach has generous outdoor living areas looking over the Waitohu Stream and onto farmland. We chose it as our retreat because it is warm, private and sheltered from coastal winds, while still within the sound of the sea. For winter nights there's a woodburner and firewood. It's casual but tidy, fully furnished, and equipped as we would hope to find a bach we rent.
From the bach you'll be able to visit Otaki's outlet stores, explore the Tararuas, or take the rowboat for a lazy row down the stream to the beautiful, wide north end of Otaki Beach.

The bach is very well stocked. You really do not need to bring anything (apart from linen). It feels more like a home (complete with piano) than a bach. Quiet and peaceful is how I would describe the location. Having breakfast on the deck while looking out over the stream and the 20+ doves in the trees was lovely. We enjoyed making our way to the beach in the rowing boat, what a treat! Can't wait to go again in Winter time with the wood burner going.

A fantastic private spot, so close to everything but you feel as if in your own little world. Had a great stay. Very relaxing and enjoyable and a few fun rows to the beach :)

This must be the best value bach in Otaki, and the best managed! Nestled amongst the trees on the bank of the Waitohu stream. Great views of the stream from the large open plan lounge/kitchen. Short walk to the beach. Boat and kayak for you paddling pleasure. Highly recommended.

Great spot. House clean and tidy, with everything you need for relaxing stay. Stream out back brilliant for kayaking. Will definitely return.

Lovely well appointed bach with excellent privacy, surrounded by mature trees leading to a quiet stream, row boat and kayak available, fantastic deck with morning and evening sun, great sound system and sky facilities (with your own card) excellent cooking facilities. This place is a hidden oasis tucked well back off the road. We had a very pleasant and enjoyable week.. The only draw back is the 1 km walk to the beach if that's your thing. I highly recommend this bach to couples.

  •  Thanks for your kind comments and very pleased you had a pleasant stay at the bach. It's a shame you didn't use the rowboat to access the north end of the beach, and walked along the streets instead. For the benefit of other guests however, if that's the preferred route, Google Maps gives the distance as 800 metres, and a 10 minute walk. Most adults will walk it in 7 or 8 minutes.
