Don't be scared by the number of stairs, this place in unique and full of character. Got a good snapper of the beach in the morning and explored the coast on a kayak. One of the best places we stayed .

We had a lovely time. This is definitely the place to get away from it all. With two small kids it worked for us but was difficult for them to get down the steep stairs all 125 or so. Once down at the waters edge. It’s really beautiful. Children can run around, swim or use the kayaks. There is a pontoon in the bay. The sunset on Saturday evening was breathtaking and as it was so still and calm we even saw an Orca. Really tranquil spot.
Bach is a traditional Kiwi Bach located right on the beach of a bay. 2 beds, clean, well equipped and low tech, great to get away from it all and unplug. 120 steps from road down to the Bach adds to sense of privacy and is a good work out when coming and going. Parua Bay is a short drive away for essential supplies shopping and Whangarei only 15-20 mins away. We had the added delight of seeing some of the local wildlife with a little blue penguin hopping onto the deck and looking through the window at us on our last night. The bedrooms both have double/queen beds, so if you are bringing kids, they need to be comfortable sharing a bed. Being able to use the kayaks was brilliant, we came to christen our SUP boards and having the kayaks meant all four of us could go out together. The bay beach has no public access and is rocky, would recommend beach shoes for getting into the water. The bay is relatively sheltered with great views - really perfect for all ability levels.
