The Gables Waterfront Apartment is housed in a lovingly restored historic building on the Russell foreshore. Built on whalebone foundations by Joseph England, a shoemaker, in 1847

its pitsawn kauri walls could tell a hundred stories.



The luxuriously appointed apartment is 2 storied, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. 'Reach out and touch the water' views of the bay to Waitangi and Paihia. Glorious sunsets, yachting, fishing and boat activity, plunging gannets and the occasional dolphin are just a few reasons to enjoy the historic township of Russell. The apartment has its own private courtyard entrance. The living, dining and kitchen areas open through french doors onto the balcony terrace, the perfect place for morning coffee or an aperitif before dinner.



Fully furnished with all new appliances, the well equipped kitchen would please any keen chef eager to experiment with the wonderful local seafood and produce. For in housepampering the Gables Restaurant chefs would be happy to cook for you and your guestsin the apartment, just arrange this with management in advance.     We could not have picked a more fitting spot for our mini-honeymoon: a private, luxury apartment with stunning views, a resident tui in the tree outside, and the sound of water lapping on the shore a stone's throw away. An amazing location; with all mod cons and then some - we felt like we were in a luxury lodge. Russell's famous power cuts gave us an excuse to crank up the open gas fireplace and light a few candles. Perfect.
