Description

Lose yourselves in the tranquility of the surroundings. A perfect place for a family or group of friends to relax together.

Ruru is tastefully built in sustainably harvested native timbers and macrocarpa. It is snugly tucked on a stream confluence at the foot of Kahurangi National Park and enjoys a rich "dawn chorus" and "morepork" (native owl) song in the evenings.

A great log fire warms you on cooler evenings and a streamside bushbath awaits you after your daywalking, horse trekking or finishing the Heaphy Track.

The local beach is only 300m down the road and our 1 hour native forest walk starts at your doorstep. It crosses deep sided streams, passes by massive trees and is a host to many epiphytes and other native plant species. It emerges to a stunning panoramic view

over Golden Bay from our neighbour's cleared farm land.

Or just take the time to enjoy the cottage ambiance and its view from

the sunny veranda.

  • Very cute cottage with loft beds that our family of five loved

Very cute cottage with loft beds that our family of five loved. The ladders were steep so not suitable for very young children but our three tweens thought it was fantastic! Small and cosy. The kitchen had all we needed. Beds were comfortable. We made use of the board games each night. During the day we cruised around Golden Bay. The cottage is an easy drive to our favourite beach - Wharariki.

It's extremely quiet, and mostly private except on the rare occasion when guests in the front house wander up the path.
