Lodge | Raurimu | #2851
The Barn at Wood Pigeon Lodge is a very secluded converted barn with mountain & world heritage park views from the property.
What was once a typical farm hay shed, we saw the potential to make into something unique which would be warm and comfortable, and so set about creating the woody interior which some guests have described as Scandanavian, some as Swiss and others as Kiwi, take your pick! Whichever you agree with, it is a fun place to stay and one where you will keep discovering its appeal over the course of your stay. It is situated in a rural farm environment just 3 kms from SH 4. It is only 3 - 8 mins drive to the restaurants and bars of Raurimu and National Park villages and 20 mins drive to Whakapapa ski field, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and nearby trout fishing streams or rivers.
We live onsite nearby, so can offer you advice, arrange shuttles or if your visit is during the cold months of winter, keep you supplied with firewood. We have some mountain bikes you can use for free.
We also have available two other accommodation lodges on the same property: The Hut which sleeps 4 (see separate listing #5624 under "Wood Pigeon Lodge 'The Hut' ") and The Tree House which sleeps 6 (see also separate listing #21076, "Wood Pigeon Lodge 'The Tree House' "). These can be rented in conjunction with The Barn for larger groups of up to 21 people.
Special conditions: There is a two night minimum stay required unless there is a one night gap between existing bookings. And a 3 night mimimum stay on long weekends. The tariff is based on 8 guests. Extras up to a maximum of 11 are charged $20.00 each per night. The Barn is not serviced daily.

The Barn has two bathrooms, which is brilliant, even when it was only four of us that were staying. The proximity to the mountain was ideal and having the firewood and all amenities there ... it was just like being at home.
The Barn is rustic and warm, plenty big enough for our group of ten and a welcome second bathroom makes weekending with teenagers much more bearable! The kitchen is great, has everything you might need and big enough to cook for large groups. The log fire is amazing. Will definitely stay here again for another trip to the snow or Tongariro Crossing weekend.
