Cottage | Katikati | #28682
The historic Honey Fields Cottage is set in beautiful park-like gardens with all day sun. In the evening there's a cosy fire to keep you warm and snug and a back deck to watch the sun setting over the Kaimai Ranges. The perfect retreat for a romantic get-away from city life, the cottage is ideal for one couple with a big comfy queen sized bed in the main bedroom. The 2nd bedroom has a queen sized bed also.
Situated in an avocado orchard so there's a bit of orchard activity going on from time-to-time but nothing major, and the plus is you get to enjoy fresh avocados free of charge during your stay.
A short drive down the road is Kauri Point Wharf, a favourite local fishing spot for catching kingfish, snapper and john dory as well as seeing the occasional pod of orcas. If you love to swim you can enjoy the surf of nearby Waihi Beach or the beautiful flat harbour water within Tauranga Harbour.
Bike riders can enjoy the local country roads or head to Karangahake Gorge to bike the Rail Trail.
If you love to walk there's the beautiful Orokawa Beach walk, starting from the northern end of Waihi Beach, the Kaimai Ranges tracks, the Karangahake Gorge walks or simply stroll down the road and around the coastal reserve from Kauri Point to Ongare Point.
Kauri Point has it's own special micro-climate, enjoying more warmth and sunshine than surrounding areas. The big shady trees near the cottage provide a lovely place to relax during the heat of the day, with a double hammock available for cottage guests.

Loved everything about the place! Cute little cottage very secluded with beautiful views. It had everything we needed for a short stay, coffee, tea, oil, shampoo etc Louise even left some milk and chilled water :) Having a bbq was nice as well as a fireplace on the colder nights. We left with a bag of avocados and lemons from the lemontree behind the house.
amazing cottage! located on a huge farm, you can't see the owners' house from the cottage, so feels like it's your own piece of paradise! outdoor is area is clever designed- there is a table under a roof on one side of the house, and one more table on a deck on the other side. So you can always choose where to sit :) our son enjoyed to play outside as well as sitting near the fireplace inside. and yes, the shower is very good with good water pressure. THANKS! we will come back :)
What an awesome cottage. Peaceful and blissfully unique with everything we needed for our long weekend away from Auckland .And everything was perfect for our 3 night stay . Close to nearby Katikati but far enough away to enjoy country living. Honey Fields Cottage really impressed us and we will be back . Comfortable beds and space to feel at ease inside..and plenty of grass to run around outside with big trees and some awesome views..And fresh avocados ..makes this a winner to stay..
What a pleasure to be able to stay in an original New Zealand family home. The location is very peaceful and the grassed area in front is large enough for a cricket field. We were very comfortable there and the avocados were lovely. We know where we would stay if we are ever past this way again.
