Chalet | Haumoana | #34648
The cabin is located on my property and you will share only the kitchen and bathroom facilities with myself. Both are located close to the cabin. You will be 'glamping' in a small but sweet cabin with a very comfortable queen bed and beautiful views over the lagoon from the French doors of your cabin and personal deck. Facilities are simple but adequate. No electricity in the cabin but plenty of romantic and or practical lighting.
The kitchen is basic, shared with myself, and is vegetarian so no meat or fish may be cooked.
A shared lounge for your use with electricity to charge devices, etc. and relax during inclement weather if you get 'cabin fever'. Note there is no TV, instead watch the dusk and sunset over the lagoon. There is a shared outdoor shower with hot water and privacy. A charming bathroom with sink with hot water and a portapotty that will only be used by yourself. All other facilities except your cabin and private deck are shared with myself. Ask me about a reduced price for one person. The nature of the property and access to facilities are not suitable for someone with mobility issues.
I usually swim with a group of friends at 9am and guests are welcome to join us.
I'm happy to provide information about the area and recommend the local wineries. Pamphlets and maps provided.
Haumoana is a small semirural beach village. There is a dairy and a Four Square nearby, many vineyards, wineries and cafés. There is no public transportation so a car is advisable. It is located 20 minutes from Napier and 10 minutes from Havelock north. I'm located directly on a network of bicycle tracks that go for many kilometers through vineyards and by the sea. You can bike on off-road bike paths along the sea to Napier, the Art Deco City, Havelock a North, or Hastings.
There is no public transport. I am happy to pick you up at the bus station or airport and bring you out here. The grocery store is a 10 minute walk or 5 minute bike ride.
Special conditions: Because of steep bank down to the lagoon property is not suitable for young children. Pathways to facilities are somewhat uneven so not suitable for someone with mobility issues. Smoking fine outside. No candles can be used in cabin. The kitchen is shared and strictly vegetarian so no meat or fish may be cooked. There are two bicycles that may be rented @$15.00 per day. Breakfast available @ $14.00 . Minimum stay is two nights. I'm often not able to accommodate same day bookings.

Maimai is most unusual being directly beside a lagoon which is a habitat for water birds-bring your binoculars. The bird noises through the day are also a unique part of being there. The waterway is such a restful but ever changing scene at Maimai!
We had an absolutely outstanding weekend. Such a beautiful spot to "unplug" from the modern world of technology and just unwind. Waking up to the sounds of the birds calling and the water was magical. Bike riding is a must and such a great way to view the Hawkes Bay countryside! We will definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you Anita!
