The 3 star rating was comparing it to luxurious accom many times the price. Value for money, Scarborough Fare is 5 star. We had a lovely time there - everything we needed was there - a great log fire which was really effective: a cosy place where we had the option to take our own bedding (we prefer that), and we really liked its very peaceful location. Great for active holiday makers - we took bikes, and we got to see a lot of Kaikoura without driving around. cheers, C&A

Ideal for a couple with modest expectations of a New Zealand bach. Within walking distance of the wharfs as well as some great food places. Quiet location.

  • The place wasnt cleaned

The place wasnt cleaned. A dirty dried up tea bag was thrown behind the rubbish bin in the kitchen. The toilet area smelt.

    Owner/manager responds:

Ohh Andrew, sorry to hear that. I know that the company who rent from us,have just recent employed new cleaners, so I hope that side of it will improve. We as owners don't get up very often however one time we arrived and there was a terrible smell in the bathroom. It was the mop so I removed it outside. I think.I will.leave a notice for the cleaners.

    Owner/manager responds:

Sorry to hear that it was too small for your needs Wayne, there is no room for a dining table, but I have just purchased some fold down tables which will be arriving soon, hopefully that will help. I hope you enjoyed the sights of Kaikoura and what the town had to offer. Thanks for your feedback.
