Bach or holiday home | Russell | #36227
When people first come to our home they often remark “You have a nice spot here” and now we are able to share it with you! We are at Okiato, that’s where you get off the vehicle ferry when heading to Russell. The section has a number of fruit trees (pear, plum, orange, mandarin, lemon, tamarillo, grape and passionfruit) and a vegetable garden, which you are most welcome to sample. There is plenty of off street easy access parking for cars and trailers. It’s very suitable for children. Situated at the end of a quiet no exit street, its fully fenced, has plenty of lawn, no high decks or stairs, there is a trampoline, dinghy, kayaks and a safe beach only 150 metres away down a track directly across the road. There are also games, books and DVD’s for when the “Winterless Northland” doesn’t live up to its name. If you have a boat you can leave it on our mooring (about 200m from the house, max 11m vessell). There is a launching ramp next to the ferry landing and the dinghy and four kayaks are kept on the foreshore by the mooring. If you like walking, the track to Russell starts just down the road, or catch the car ferry to Opua (5 mins away and only $1 for a foot passenger) and walk the track to Paihia (about 5 km). For the more adventurous, do the full circle, walk to Russell, passenger ferry to Paihia, walk to Opua, vehicle ferry back home! If you bring bikes, there is the old railway line track to Kawakawa (bikes are free on the ferry) So after enjoying all the activities on offer, rinse off under the outdoor shower and relax in the sun or in the shade of the rimu, totara and manuka trees, or lie in a hammock while watching the birds When you rent our home you will be met on arrival by the owner who will show you around. We will then go away on our boat but will still be in the greater Bay or Islands area should you need assistance. We think its paradise, come and see wh...
