Great for a retreat or as a relaxing home base from which to explore the tranquil beauty of Golden Bay. Rustic and romantic.

Onekaka is a great location, halfway between Takaka and Collingwood Townships. Here you're in the heart of Golden Bay, the perfect location to explore our many beautiful attractions in either direction. Onekaka Beach is a 2 minute drive away. Walk up the main road to the famous Mussel Inn Bush Cafe which offers meals, their own boutique beers and wines and a diverse range of entertainers (see musselinn website). See the glow worms as you walk back home after dark. Walk through virgin beech and rimu forest in nearby Washbourn Reserve or make the longer trek uphill to the Onekaka dam.

  • Very cute bach in the bush

Very cute bach in the bush. Property is as in the photos, in fact even better in real life. No TV, fantastic Mussel Inn 200m down the (main) road...care needed if walking..especially on the way back!! Good for the soul.

We loved the Kanuka cottage! Quiet, secluded and spacious, the outside bath and shower was the draw card for us and it did not disappoint! Carolyn had left some wood ready for the fire to cosy the placed up should it get cold enough (it stayed nice and warm without the fire), I would love to be there snuggled up on a cold winters eve! We walked to the Mussel Inn for dinner, its in a perfect spot to get there easily and sample a couple of their beers. We left feeling invigorated. Recommended!
