Description

"Comfortably Numb" a very cute wee crib in great condition with large outside decks.

Wake up to the sound of bird song from the Tui's, Bell Birds, oystercatchers, woodpigeons etc.

Fabulous location right beside the water in a very safe inlet..

Collect cockles( Clams ) at low tide, take one of the many walks or just watch it all happen from the deck.

Visit Port Chalmers (10 minutes away) with its designer shops, cafes and restaurants.

Or take a 10 minutes drive to the Orokanui bird sanctuary or the other small coastal settlements such as Karitane.

NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);

we really enjoyed our stay at Purakaunui , the batch was lovely...

we really enjoyed our stay at Purakaunui , the batch was lovely had everything you needed , even a Nespresso machine. It was so quiet and tranquil, just what we needed after a busy Christmas period, I think we only heard one car drive past. we highly recommend the batch.

Fabulous place - more of a home than a crib

Fabulous place - more of a home than a crib. Super comfortable - lovely bed, shower etc. Amazing views and loved the access to the row boat. Future guests just need to be aware that the chemical toilet is a composting one - so it's not as straightforward to use as a bog standard chemical toilet.

Purakaunui is such a special place - peaceful, immensely beautiful and with the most amazing emerald water in the inlet - and this bach is well-equipped, cosy and beautifully maintained for a comfortable stay. It's a brilliant place if you want to be near Dunedin, but still experience the best of the best of New Zealand's nature with birdsong, seals and stunning beaches all around. The bach has a superb outlook yet is completely private. Good beds and great squishy sofa, plus attractive decor.
