Description

Trade the noise and pollution of city living for the fresh air and quiet of the country. This is a peaceful retreat where you can recharge your batteries while enjoying the comforts of home with the benefit of the great outdoors at your doorstep.

We have scheduled horse treks every weekend, public holiday and school holidays, and for larger groups or a minimum charge can offer weekday treks as well (call for details or see our web site) .

This is a working dairy farm and you are welcome to come to the milking shed where the cows are milked once or twice a day (season dependant - approx late July to April). You can just watch, or put on an apron and try it yourself.

There are plenty of flat tracks and rolling hill tracks to explore as well as a stream and two small lakes. You will have the opportunity to see plenty of wildlife such as hares, rabbits, goats, peacocks, turkeys, pukeko, pheasants, a couple of sheep and plenty of cows and horses.

The farmstay is ideal for family get-togethers, informal business retreats, clubs or groups of friends. It is an older style 1950s house that was once the family home. The lounge has a fireplace for winter fires and the kitchen has been replaced and fully modernised. The beds all have comfortable motel quality mattresses and a large covered wooden deck has been added for outdoor living where smoking is permitted.

Dogs may be permitted by arrangement, but must be kept under control and outside of the farmstay on a lead or in a kennel. Children of any age are welcome and there is plenty of room to play, but parents will need to keep watch on younger children. Smoking is permitted outside.

You will need to bring all your own food, condiments and refreshments, or drive 15 minutes to Dinsdale where there is a fully equipped supermarket and an extensive range of takeaway food outlets.

The owner and manager lives in a separate house about 500 meters away. The accommodation is not shared with other people.

Extras: Cleaning (included); Linen (included); Free use of canoes on our lake (included);

  • It was an enjoyable stay within driving distance of various activities

    It was an enjoyable stay within driving distance of various activities. The deck is nice and spacious and the house was a comfortable size with decent facilities. A few of us tried cow milking and that was an interesting experience. The only thing was that the fly repellent dispenser wasn't working so we had dozens of flies coming in.

  • We had a lovely stay and spend quite a lot of time...

    We had a lovely stay and spend quite a lot of time wandering around the farm. Spacious and well-equipped kitchen. Bed already made up. Large decking area. Rural location. Approx. 30min away from Dinsdale shops. TV not working/connect but this didn't affect us at all as there were enough entertainment on site. Highly recommended for anyone who likes farmstays.

  • Rats seen in the lounge

    Rats seen in the lounge. No TV and had to contact the owners three times before it was fixed. Cause connecting wires chewed by rats. Stereo not working and in spite of letting them know it was not fixed. BBQ no gas in the bottles and no means of lighting the fire in the lounge. We don't smoke and had to buy a lighter just to light the fire. No wardrobes all locked, live out of suit cases. Furniture, cutlery, and crockery would have no value in a second hand shop. Not a farm stay, a backpackers
