Trade the noise and pollution of city living for the fresh air and quiet of the country. This is a peaceful retreat where you can recharge your batteries while enjoying the comforts of home with the benefit of the great outdoors at your doorstep.

We have scheduled horse treks every weekend, public holiday and school holidays, and for larger groups or a minimum charge can offer weekday treks as well (call for details or see our web site) .

This is a working dairy farm and you are welcome to come to the milking shed where the cows are milked once or twice a day (season dependant - approx late July to April). You can just watch, or put on an apron and try it yourself.

There are plenty of flat tracks and rolling hill tracks to explore as well as a stream and two small lakes. You will have the opportunity to see plenty of wildlife such as hares, rabbits, goats, peacocks, turkeys, pukeko, pheasants, a couple of sheep and plenty of cows and horses.

The farmstay is ideal for family get-togethers, informal business retreats, clubs or groups of friends. It is an older style 1950s house that was once the family home. The lounge has a fireplace for winter fires and the kitchen has been replaced and fully modernised. The beds all have comfortable motel quality mattresses and a large covered wooden deck has been added for outdoor living where smoking is permitted.

Dogs may be permitted by arrangement, but must be kept under control and outside of the farmstay on a lead or in a kennel. Children of any age are welcome and there is plenty of room to play, but parents will need to keep watch on younger children. Smoking is permitted outside.

You will need to bring all your own food, condiments and refreshments, or drive 15 minutes to Dinsdale where there is a fully equipped supermarket and an extensive range of takeaway food outlets.

The owner and manager lives in a separate house about 500 meters away. The accommodation is not shared with other people.

  • We had a wonderful well spent time in Karamu trail farm accomodation...

We had a wonderful well spent time in Karamu trail farm accomodation with family and friends. Had an amazing horse trekking in the morning then some canoeing in the afternoon. We definitely had a great time! David was such a lovely host. Very accommodating and let us check in 3 hours ahead of time and even had a late checkout with no extra cost. Krysie is a star! She is so easy to deal with during the booking. Very prompt in answering all my queries. The place is old but clean and beds are comfortable. The deck is huge with bbq area. 2 days and 1 night was not enough. There are lots of things to do around the place. It is a great place to have a bonding time with families and friends. We will definitely come back!

  • Such a warm and cozy stay with a large outdoor deck

Such a warm and cozy stay with a large outdoor deck. The best place to get lost in the serenity along with some boating. We enjoyed a lot even though it was raining. I would like to appreciate for changing the BBQ machine within a quick time.

What a great spot! The kids had a ball exploring the farm and horse riding. We really enjoyed our stay and felt very much like we had escaped the rat race. Thanks!

  • It's a nice secluded place

It's a nice secluded place. Had the whole house to ourselves and the freedom to canoe at the lake. We didn't have time to check out the glowworms though. Went horse trekking and loved it. David is an awesome riding teacher for us who are new to horse riding and a wonderful host. Krysie is also very helpful with with the booking details.
