HIKING IN GÂTINE
Pleasant and delicious walks to discover a generous nature which invites you to "push further" the path.
It is also a more sustained walk on paths that follow the Gâtinais landscape to meet many testimonies from the past that mark out the territory.
It is both a hobby of discovery and a form of physical exercise.
It is a sometimes surprising meeting of the inhabitants, of characters who know perfectly the patrimonial richnesses and who know how to make you live the roots of the soil and their products.
This is what hikers tell us when they are intoxicated by an overflow of eyes and lungs.
In Gâtine, the hiking trails are accessible to all, even if they are sometimes rougher and require physical effort which remains a pleasure.
We practically all practiced them; the elevations are bearable and the distances are manageable by shortcuts identified on the cards.
More than twenty routes of 6 to 20 km in the surrounding municipalities, some of which lead to the GR 364. So many detailed maps and explanatory sheets at your disposal in the gîte for the pleasure of walkers.

BY BIKE FROM GÂTINE ON THE ROADS OF DEUX-SEVRES AND VENDEE

Leisure cycling, cycle tourism or mountain biking: all tastes are in the nature of the region.
Our landscapes and our heritage are of infinite diversity and they redouble their charm when you discover them by bike.

With family or friends, cycling is an extraordinary means of discovery which, in addition to combining form and health, is economical and ecological.
The bicycle, accessible to all, is widely practiced in our regions and many are the meetings (cycling brings together ...).
We saw this summer that we were even more numerous on the quiet circuits, a little away from cars, where the natural heritage is rich and the locals close to make you live what they know best: their country and their terroir.
Fortunately, there are plenty of opportunities to get on a bicycle. Rather judge:
We practiced several circuits on the Gâtine, the Marais Poitevin, the Vendée of the interior with medieval riches. More than thirty routes and loops are available to pedal with confidence. After the Marais Poitevin where the flat country is easy to roll, we traveled a new link from the Thouet Valley to the Vendée routes by the cycle route (Sources de gâtine, le Beugnon, la Chapelle Thireuil, le Busseau, St Hilaire de Voust), there it is a little more sporty.
The terrain is more rowdy, the variations are greater but after each turn, around a hedgerow hedge, a new landscape awaits you and your efforts are rewarded.
In Gâtine and in the countries, 40/70 kms away, the landscapes are very different and the numerous circuits are preserved and make you meet our neighbors from several European countries who come to ride with us.
Thanks to this silent and non-polluting means of transport, you access the inaccessible while preserving the environment!
So, ALL IN THE SADDLE on the routes selected for their landscaped interest in a preserved natural setting ... IT IS SO GOOD TO ESCAPE !!!


ON A HORSE…. OR AT PONY…
ON THE GÂTINE AND THE VENDEEN BOCAGE
A pedagogical approach for environmental and rural education.
Land of the horse, whether draft or riding:
- Discovery farm
- Horse riding lessons, career work
- Equestrian tourism, walks on discovery trails.

We got to know all these professionals, horse lovers who bring life and transmit the pleasure of the close relationship between man and animal. They are five in a perimeter of 5 to 15 kms.
We discovered the world of the draft horse, learned its use and the ancestral trades practiced with it. We treated, practiced the grooming of Breton line which weighs nearly 900 kg "a monster of docility". We worked at the forge and shoeed a horse before work.
What a joy then to practice harnessing on marked routes and to better understand the agricultural work of yesteryear.
A world too unknown and very enriching for culture and history.
Very complementary work in career, courses for all and at all levels.
Finally, the great joy of the ride, of contact with the horse, the pony and nature.
Hiking in the forest, in the Gâtine, the Marais Poitevin, the Bocage Vendéen.
