We stayed here on a family vacation and had a fantastic time. The location is perfect. Only 30 minutes from Florence but feels nice and relaxing. The castle is charming with lots of interesting and beautiful features. The staff was superb in catering to our every need. We could not have asked for better. We definitely recommend staying here and would go back in a heartbeat (and will)!
It’s not often that 19 members of an American family have the occasion to be treated like royalty in a magnificent Tuscan castle! The physical venue, including the antique furniture to the billiard table to the large classic dining room table and carved chairs, is matched by the views of cypress trees, olive groves, vineyards and stone towers dating to the 1300s. The views of the hills and villages around us were unparalleled. The comfort level was modern and superb. The people involved in management were hospitable and charming. Valentina's welcome was warm, and her tour of the castle was amazing. Antonio’s management was orderly and friendly. Primal’s caretaking was attentive and cheerful. The wine from their vineyard, and the Olive oil from their olive trees, were excellent. We had several private dinners in their wonderful dining room, which gave us the full Tuscan culinary experience. We also had the opportunity to enjoy a cooking class by the chef! We were within a short walk to the lovely town of Impruneta, with friendly waiters, the best ice cream shop ever at Bar Italia, the great pastries at the tabac, etc. They recommended the restaurant Trattoria dal Contadina, which we returned to several times, the food was so delicious. All of our family was captivated by the castle experience. Mi castle es su castle!
There are not enough words to describe our time at the Castle. I first need to begin with our hosts. Valentina is the owner who takes such pride in her heritage. She welcomed us and took us on a tour of her lovely Castle while telling us the history/current status of the town and the Castle. Primal, is great at everything: cooking, cleaning, checking in to see if we need anything and of course filling us in on the beautiful waterfall and it’s secrets. Monica, is truly amazing! She very much enjoys her job (not sure she would call it that). She is the ultimate concierge for those wanting that, but to us she became part of our family and will be truly missed by all. If any one of the 18 people in our family was interested in doing something she was right there to research, organize and ensure that by the end of our day we were all laughing, smiling and sharing about that days experience. One specific example is our trip to Florence, we were short a car and taxis were on strike. She offered to drive a few of us into town and made sure we were able to make our tour of the Duomo. This would not have been possible had she not driven some. And she made us feel (every time), that she had no place else to be except with us making sure all went well.
Primal, Simona and Monica hosted several special dinners for us, each with special requests such as a piano /singer, home made tiramisu and magnum bottles….all pulled off without a problem.
Now, about the property which y’all want to hear about…WOW!! Beautiful, authentic Castle rooms for several of us. Spacious, kitchenettes included, and wonderful views. The farmhouse apartments next to us, also well appointed and the courtyard outside was our meeting place to hear everyone’s story of the day. Fresh towels provided, fridge stocked with cold water and a few sodas. You don’t need to bring pool towels and an on-site, self service washer/dryer available for those staying for a long period of time.
Impruneta is the perfect “in between” village; not too big, not too small, and with the best gelato in Tuscany! One can find live music in the village square in the evenings which was a plus as well.
There wasn’t a downside to this stay with the exception that we had to leave.
And truly, our visit would not have been the same without the folks above and I thank them deeply.
Ciao
Ann
Valentina the owner was so kind in welcoming our family to the castle, and Monica was on site every day to make sure all of our needs were taken care off. Primal was a rock star cooking and cleaning and making sure our children and grand children were taken care of. There were 20 of us in our family ages ranging from 7-68 and the accommodations, the location and food was perfect for our group! It was the perfect way to end our 10 day Italian vacation spending the last 5 days at the castle in Tuscany! The Baker family!!
We stayed at the Cafaggio for a family reunion from oklahoma, new hampshire, seattle, and the bay areas ... 14 of us ages 7-78 yo ... the castle is well situated south of florence with full provisions in impruneta and bus connections to all of tuscany ... an absolutely amazing property as represented on their web site but more importantly the staff made it all happen ... Valentina, Monica and Primal were accommodating beyond expectations ... formal tour and history of the property, cooking classes, tuscan BBQ party, pizza's in the wood fired oven .... Primal provided all meals including 5 course tuscan feast in our formal dining room and served as DJ for our son's 40th birthday "disco party" ... the olive oil produced on the property is the best ... in summary our overall experience was simply outrageous and we will return when we visit italy again
The property is beautiful, charming, and everything the photos portray. Wonderful location, and experience. I can't say enough good things about t Lorenzo the property manager, and all the chefs who cooked for us! Everyone went out of their way to tend to all of our requests and Lorenzo's family even cooked us an impromptu Chrismas lunch when all the grocery stores were closed. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
