We enjoyed a three night stay here with our daughter, husband and two young grandchildren.
We enjoyed a three night stay here with our daughter, husband and two young grandchildren. The location is very peaceful and the views across Morecambe Bay are lovely. As others have noted, the driveway is quite narrow but if you follow the clear instructions provided in the email it is absolutely no problem ( we have a VW Transporter van). It's very handy for child friendly activities such as Grange-over-Sands promenade, Fell Foot Park, Sizergh Castle, Lakeside aquarium,Lake cruises and climbing Gummer's How, all of which we did. The tastefully decorated cottage was a warm and cosy base on a bitterly cold weekend. The beds were very comfortable and we appreciated the great bathrooms. The pub across the road is very handy too.

Great stay at the cottage excellent pub across the road
We recently stayed for a two week holiday at Dunmail House. We found the house itself to be quiet and peaceful, a perfect fit for myself and 3 of my kids ages 11-20 yrs. Lots of room for groceries and a well equipped kitchen for cooking meals. We appreciated having the washing machine to do our laundry as well. The view from the house is gorgeous and tranquil, looking out towards the water at the front and picturesque fields at the back. It was a bit chilly to enjoy the outdoor space, but it looked inviting and the garden was clean and private - would be nice to sit out on warmer days.We found Allithwaite to be the perfect location to venture out from and explore the Lakes and beyond - our favorite activities included walking the prom at nearby Grange, Rydal Cave, and pottery lessons with Rae Ceramics at Assembly Arts in Lancaster. At the end of the day it was so nice to come back to Dunmail House to rest and rejuvenate. If we ever return to the area, we hope to stay again.or cooking meals. for

Lovely house to stay in.
Lovely house to stay in. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into making it as warm & welcoming as possible. All the fittings are to a really high standard including beautiful bathrooms and comfortable beds. One of the best equipped houses we have stayed in, we really appreciated the starter logs, firelighters etc for the stove and the welcome pack. The garden is also lovely with great views.

My wife and I stayed with my adult children and their partners.
My wife and I stayed with my adult children and their partners. We had an excellent time with space and comfort. The showers and baths were excellent as was the kitchen.
We enjoyed the garden and so did our little dog.
There are a number of good short walks locally.
We know the area very well so we also went further afield this time into new territory. As always the lakes never fail to give pleasure.
Always go expecting rain and then be pleasantly surprised.

We had an amazing time staying here, the house was lovely, warm and cosy with really comfortable beds to sleep in. We were blessed with good weather when staying and the sun landed perfectly in the back garden for a sit down!
With a bit of a walk you’re not far from some small food shops and the beach promenade where the cafe sells amazing icecream. Thank you for a lovely time!

Dunmail house is beautifully decorated and well placed to explore the lakes. The views are amazing and the garden is the perfect place to relax and enjoy evenings. The shops in Grange-over-Sands provide everything you will need, the pheasant pub opposite the property does take away and the food is great. We found the property was well stocked with all we needed to cook at home, and it was immaculately clean.

Lovely renovated house in an area easy to explore. Cartmel & Grange 2 miles either way.
Good outside seating area and now a charcoal bbq added, great for the summer evenings!
2 new bathrooms with excellent showers and plenty of hot water.
Cooked most nights in a well implemented kitchen
Small welcome pack of goodies on arrival
Also installed 2 hand gel stations, ideal on entering property. The pheasant Inn across the road has a takeaway menu and the food was delicious. Also recommend the Cavendish Arms at Cartmel for excellent food.
Would highly recommend this house

Had a great time at funnily house. The house was warm, clean and comfortable. There was a great family run pub across the road which sold reasonably priced home cooked food. We didn't hear any noise from the pub either. Would definitely recommend the house, pub and area.

Great cottage for our long weekend stay.
Great cottage for our long weekend stay. Very helpful and welcoming host though we never needed to actually meet. Parking OK though care needed over narrow access. Very clean, good beds and bathrooms though steps down and up to upstairs bathroom - might be tricky at night for some.
Garden looked lovely though weather precluded much use.
All in all a very enjoyable stay which we'd love to repeat.

We had a fantastic stay at Dunmail House, the hosts are very approachable and will do anything to ensure you have a pleasant stay. Upon entering the property we were amazed at the same as sometimes you can see photographs online which is not a true representation of a property, we were pleased to see that the photographs were accurate and if anything doesn’t demonstrate how amazing this place is! The whole family loved it, especially the boys playing in the garden. A massive thank you to Sarah and her partner who returned my littlest nephews toy dog which he carried everywhere and we had left it by accident at the property. Will definitely return and would definitely recommend this place! Thank you for such a pleasant stay.
