About this property

Quirky and Luxurious - Chateau d'Oche South Wing Gite

Welcome to Chateau d'Oche...

As they say, your home is your castle... and so it is ! Make yourself at home in the South wing of Chateau d'Oche, located just 45 minutes from Limoges International Airport in the lush and stunning Perigord Vert, land of truffles and foie gras in South West France.

Originally the home of barons (with our own coat of arms) the castle was built on an ancient base from the 1400s. The estate was then transformed by a quirky 1800s French Artisan, Master Louis Bourdery, renown for his religious art (he has streets named after him for it) and penchant for all things English. He and his eclectic heirs, such as his ghostly white daughter Blanche, left their workshop, two chapels, and an indelible footprint on the property - transforming it from a hunting lodge to a towering gothic tribute that stands in superb condition to this day.

The chateau was more recently a summer resort for French Ministers' families before being sold as a 13-hectare private estate.

Newly available, the South wing Gite with its' impressive features is all yours -

* 2 Smaller feature 'Tower Bedrooms' - ideal for one adult or two children
* Up to 3 large Family Bedrooms depending on group size, each with outdoor access
* Up to 3 large, spacious Bathrooms - one with Jacuzzi, one Wet-Room
* Seperate Toilet
* Upper Lounge, Multimedia Television, Balcony, Pool Table
* Lounge - Dining Room with outdoor access and feature fireplace, seats 12
* Fully equipped Kitchen with access to outdoor dining area
* Outdoor dining area with BBQ, Lounge seating and Pool views
* Equipped Utility Room.
* Additional 96m 2 'Event Room' Subject to availability for Events or Celebrations

Level access is provided to all rooms on the ground floor.

As well as the impressive 'Tower Bedrooms' the property has original fireplaces, South and North facing walk on balconies, a mezanine on the upper, a spiral staircase linking the two floors all which make the property ideal if you enjoy unique architecture and features.

Four ground floor doors provide access to the courtyard and gardens - indeed you will also have the 13 hectare estate to enjoy along with the large Pool and its' Decking and comfortable furniture to help you relax.

The lit Gardens, Courtyard and Marquee are ideal for Outdoor Dining - two Barbecues will be prepared for your use and everything is available for the preparation of your eating area.

Every detail has been thought of at Chateau Oche to make your stay a pleasant one - Reading Books , I.T Printing Equipment , Outdoor Games, Board Games, a Multimedia Karaoke Television, Bike hire being available, a Pool Table, Baby Foot ... and more.

A member of the team is available on site should you require assistance.

When planning your holiday we are more than happy to assist with making your stay a special one, or helping if you are planning a celebration. We can also provide an additional event room if you are looking for a seperate space to hold your special event. Please just ask !

Please note :

The Owners live on the estate, and have pets. These are kept in a seperate, enclosed garden on the estate.

The Gite has a stone spiral staircase for which care should be taken if children are present.

We do not take a cleaning fee, however we ask that the Chateau is left in a clean and tidy state on departure as well as bins being taken off site. We reserve the right to levy a charge using the deposit.

We will be flattered that you may request us to hold your dates before a deposit is organised and would like to help. However, we are unable to do this, as some of our booking platforms automatically accept paid booking requests and block all dates for which a deposit has been paid, including any overlapping dates for enquiries with unpaid deposits.

Unique jewel in beautiful setting
A truly unique and beautiful property - imposing but yet homely. The owner has created a magical place to stay and offers a warm welcome making you feel instantly at home. Stunning grounds and pool, very well appointed and immaculately clean. We had a wonderful stay in this very special chateau!

Magnificent property, gracious hosts
This is the most beautiful property, newly renovated with great care to preserve the original features. Our family had the most wonderful stay here. Upon arrival the owners welcomed us with a fabulous hamper packed with lots of local produce and all we could possibly need for the start of our 10 day stay. They gave us a tour of the entire property and even offered us dinner for the first night as we arrived in the evening. The accommodation is very comfortable and there is plenty to do in the area if you can tear yourself away from the pool and grounds. The location is great there are many little towns to explore all in a 10-30minute drive away. We highly recommend this place, it is a hidden jewel and the hosts could not be more helpful, friendly and gracious. They really have thought of everything. Many times offered us fresh eggs from the laying hens kept on the grounds and appeared with home made treats which were delicious, at the same time absolutely respecting your privacy. We are looking for excuse to go back as soon as possible !

About the host

Host profile image
I am a private and public sector advisor and entrepreneur who believes that the best things in life (connection with our fellow humans, family, new and old friends, nature, great food, the list goes on) are not material ones. One great way of keeping a bit of life balance, even when traveling often for work, is interacting with and supporting local homeowners by renting their lovely homes in lieu of staying in hotels -so I try to do this on every possible occasion. It is also a delight to be able to do the same for our travellers and share Chateau d'Oche with our guests

Why they chose this property

I was immediately attracted to the Chateau d'Oche estate - I love the history and the passion behind the features of the Chateau, the nature that surrounds us and the spaciousness of the building. The location was a huge attraction to me also - allowing peace and tranquility but also being in the Dordogne region with all its' attractions and infastructure
